I 'distressed' this sheath finish a bit to give it a worn look. It seemed to fit this simply belt knife blade.

I have to tell you - I fell in love with this knife while handling it to make the sheath. What an awesome project to be a part of! Thanks!

Looking good! That handle shape is outstanding. Good to see a knife without the palm swell in the center. That one looks very user friendly.

I have no idea how I missed that thread. It was a great idea, and I would have loved to have got in on it.

I am not even going to comment on how awesome that sheath is, because all of yours are :D

When I was shaping the scales I was thinking of a profile that wouldn't lock the user into a particular spot or hold. As much as I love the looks of a deeply carved and shaped handle, I've held enough knives to know that one shape doesn't fit all.

Since the handle gets smaller as you go toward the blade, I made that area the thickest and tapered the width as you go toward the butt end. It seemed to work for me. I hope that the lucky recipient feels the same way.

Looking good.

It's great to see the finished photos.

 But can that baby cut?

Beautiful blade and sheath--I can't believe I missed that thread!

If I may ask, though, how did you do your distressing? That isn't a look I've seen or achieved before, and I've tried an awful lot of things :P

+1 Secret sauce?

No secret sauce.

Dye - while the dye is nearly dry - I add a liberal coat of Montana Pitch Blend.

One all is dry and stitched up - I use 600 grit sand paper on spot where wear would naturally occur and then do a second small coat of MPB and it is done.

Huh, well that's interesting. From here it looks like the distressed areas are raised like blisters--and I mean that in a good way, of course :P--which is why I was asking.

I've had the good fortune to examine the knife, and the handle is very comfortable and versatile for different grips. Nice job!

TF that sheath looks great.
