Knifemaker Quiz

Sorry Rob,
Some people are having problems with java errors in my script that prevent seeing the answers. Everything looks fine on my machine so Im having trouble figuring out what it is.
Here's the correct answers;
Quiz 1 - B,B,D,B,D
Quiz 2 - C,A,D,B,C
Quiz 3 - D,D,A,C,B
Quiz 4 - B,A,C,D,C

I see what it is now. It requires Internet Explorer to work right.

Hey Tim: You have been here in a long time, with us non-neo. I did like my last vist.
I took the quizes, got flash backs, why I hated school.

5 OUT OF 5!

and I didn't even cheat!!! OK, OK. I guessed at the second question.
........

After taking the complete quiz, I missed 4 out of 20. I'm not so puffed up now! It was those Arizona and Jim Bowie questions. Trick questions Tim!:)

I must not of made the link big enough at the bottom of each quiz's page that takes you to the next quiz. There are 4 quizes with 5 questions each. All together there are 20 questions so far and more to follow. Thanks.

I went through all 4 quizes..Boy am I Dumb..I don't think I got more than half of them correct..Guess I should study some..

I got 19 of 20, but I'm confused on the one I missed.

On the one about which wood had the highest density, I selected Lignum Vitae, but the answer shows up as Sonoran Desert Ironwood.

I thought that the density of wood was measured by pounds per cubic foot. After taking the quiz, I pulled out my spec sheet for various woods and found the following:

1. Lignum Vitae - 83 lbs. per cubic foot
2. Arizona (Sonoran Desert) Ironwood - 68 lbs. per cubic foot

The only thing I can think of is maybe it's a slightly different variety. I don't know that much about Arizona, but I think the Sonoran Desert extends from Mexico up into Arizona -- right? Is it a variety in the Mexican portion of the Sonoran Desert that has a density higher than 83 lbs. per cubic foot?

And Tim, you know me. We're friends. I'm not trying to be a wise guy here. I'm honestly curious.

You bet were friends! I think you may have caught me on that one Terry. Oops. My specs didnt list ironwood but had Lignum Vitae as the densest. Ive worked with both and felt ironwood was even denser so I tried a test. I put both in water and the ironwood sunk like a rock and the Lignum Vitae floated slightly under the surface so I assumed that meant ironwood was denser. I called up my old college forestry professor in Oregon and he said that there are too many varibles for a float test to hold any water(funny guy). He also said that the waxiness of Lignum Vitae could be why it registers as denser. He seemed to think your info was right and my testing wasnt valid. Thanks for pointing that out Terry. I want these quizes to be sound information so they teach as well as test so the answers have to be right on. I'll replace the question with something more for sure. So you got all of them right and then some dude! Wow!

OK, so now I missed only 3 out of 20! I put down lignum vitae as well but I didn't go through the trouble of double checking the answers. I figured, Hey! This is Tim Lively's quiz! :)

Now about that Bowie question...wasn't Kentucky part of Louisiana at that time? :D
