Knifemakers Guild Show - Any Pics?? - Any Reports, Good or Bad??

Does anyone have pics to post from the Knifemakers Guild Show or perhaps a review by an attendee, etc? How was the crowd, how were sales, etc?

Usually, by now, one sees some sort of review, pics, etc - but so far, nothing. Let's hear about the activity, etc. As a collector, I'm noticing a lack of "activity" on dealer websites, less activity in forums, etc. Was there any noticeable "collector malaise" at the show, with respect to attendance and sales?

I think the total attendance was down. However that being said it seemed like a bigger percentage of the people in the room were collectors I recognized and I was fortunate enough to sell out.
I read on the other Guild thread that a few tables may be opened up to the abs. I had also heard that was being discussed. I think that it could be a good thing.
I like to think if you fill a room with good makers the Collectors will come.
Take care

Thanks, Cliff. Hope we get some other reports. I, too, saw the comments about the ABS possibilities. It makes a great deal of sense for all involved and couldn't help but to draw out more attendees. It's also a good point for discussion.

I had a great time behind the table at the show. I did not get a chance to take any photos of the show.

Cliff's assessment on attendance goes along with my observations. Seemed to be a good number of collectors leaving some of their dollars in the room and leaving with some great knives.

This is the only photo I brought back from Louisville.

The knife was an order that I delivered at the show.

It also won "Best Fighter",which was a pleasant surprise.

7-3/4" CPM-154 Blade and 13' OAL, Bark Mammoth Ivory Scales and 416SS Guard.

Take care

Congrats on the Best Fighter award, Charles !
Gonna' go out on a limb and say this show is under-reported. :)

I wish the Guild Show would just merge with the ABS Show to create a SuperShow of custom knives. Maybe hold it in a somewhat more central location with lots of flight options - maybe Chicago or Dallas or even St. Louis. Perhaps in October.

Something like that would be a lot more appealing to me than any other show in the U.S. I think it would become something that I would feel like I had to attend every year.

Since no news about the show, I'll report that I just saw (from my balcony, 11:17am pac) the space shuttle Endeavour, piggybacked on the 747, with fighter escort, fly right over Morro Rock. Flyin' low for everyone to see, too!

Anyway, back to the main subject - the show. I guess with no really good information about the show, all we can gather at this point is that "no news is bad news"??

Otherwise, we would have had some reports and pics?

Sounds like the old Guild show before the ABS guys broke off and it was in Dallas. I would think Louisville is fairly centrally located but I've never attended the show there so may not know.

Congratulations Charles.

Best Fighter at the Guild Show for a knifemaker that's like winning the Super Bowl.

Here are the four knives I used for Probationary Membership and I also won The Herman "Hank" Rummell Memorial Award for Most Outstanding First Year Probationary Member.

I didn't make it this year but it was a great time last year.

I think it's good to have the two big shows spread across the calendar. There's nothing I know of stopping ABS members from being Guild members too, or vice versa.

I heard somewhere that Louisville is within a day's drive of something like 70% of the country's population. That's pretty central.
