I wasn't there. Arguably one of the most important shows in the USA. I think we'd all like to hear personal stories and observations....

I went this year on Saturday, I had a much better time than I did last year. I got to talk with Steve Johnson and he was super nice, a real gentleman. I also met Gordon Smith one of my favorite paperweight artists who may collaborate with S.R. johnson on a knife handle for one of his knives. You can see some of Gordon's stuff here http://www.theglassgallery.com

I did notice that some of the prominent makers that were at blade were not at the bladeshow like Ernie Emerson or Jerry Fisk.

I have been going for past years and always enjoy it. I went Friday with my wife and would like to thank all the makers for answering her questions, they were very patient. Everyone needs to bring friends along to buy knives, I went Saturday with two friends who bought 5 knives between them. I am selfish in that the more knives purchased, the more makers and knives will be brought to the next show for me to buy. Speaking of purchasing, the rope cutting demo sells knives. After watching the makers using their knives to slice rope like wet pasta, their tables were very busy.
Certain makers were absent, I heard people looking for their favorites but that just meant that they were now able to buy from other makers.
One of my favorite places to visit is just outside the hall where some of the makers meet on break and have spirited discussions. I probably learn more about knife making out there then anywhere else. This year they had a break area inside but they still prefer to go outside.
Overall, it was great, and whenever you go, bring friends to support your local knife maker.

This years Guild Show was outstanding. The absence of a few
"big name" makers had no real effect on the show. There are always
a few of them missing for one reason or another. Bruce Voyles was
hired by the Guild to run the show this year and he did an outstanding
job. Anyone seriously interested in custom knives owes it to himself
to go to the Guild. This was my 27th year as a Guild member and I am still enthusiastic.

I wound up with a cool bali from Ralph Turnbull ;)
Saw a lot of old friends and made a few new ones. I think The Guild did a great job with the Gala and seminars.

Me and my old man went to the show on Saturday morning. I had a great time. Its the only place where I can go to see and hold the knives you would otherwise only see pictures of in magazines. I cannot afford to travel across the country to a knife show, so it is nice to have one close to home.

A was a little disapointed that there were fewer dealers than had been in the past few years, but it was still an excellent show. I was looking for butterfly knives, any saw two. But they were about $1000 each, so I had to pass. A couple of the makers noticed the Spyderco Spyderfly I was carrying with me, and they got a kick out of seeing it. I did not do any flipping, as there were a lot of people around, and in close quarters. I did not want to foul-up on a wild move, and have the knive slam down on some makers table, and damage something  . I cannot wait till next years show!

Was my 5th year as a customer, 3rd year as a member, and 1st year as a voting member of the Guild, so I could have called it a great show if nothing other than being acceepted as a voting member happened! But to add to that, the Gala was first class operation with lots of hot and cold hors devers
(food...I did butcher that spelling didn't I?), complimentary beer and wine and soda pops, live band. There was the silent knife sale with something close to 75 -100 knives being offered. (Thank-you Dr. Mike for buying my little carrying folder! When my wife told me that there was an offer to buy in the box behind my knife, she said the smile I had went from ear to ear).
The show itself had, by my reckoning, something over 300 tables of knives, supplies, etc. The attendance was, in my opinion stronger than last year and the attendees were buying knives.
This year by several measures, was stronger than last year and should lead to an even bigger and better show next year. I'd strongly recommend that maker/members don't miss next year. and believe that Honorary Members and other collectors will be out in force as the corner has been turned and the Guild Show is well on its way to heading back to being THE Show to Don'T miss each year!
Eugene Shadley was elected President of the Guild, Gil Hibben, who is long on knifemaking and Guild history, and Allen Elishewitz who brings "youthful exuberance" and a determined work ethic to the board were elected as directors. There were alot of other positive things happening as well, like the State Director program and the Mentor program, which will do nothing but strengthen the craft and the Guild's place in the craft. I wouldn't miss this show whether I am there as a maker or as a collector!
