i'm looking for knifemaking for the intermediate of advanced knifemakers. i'm just looking to pick up some tips from makers who've been doing this for a while.
any suggestions?

I like Wayne Goddard's new book The Wonder of knifemaking he covers heat treat, steels eguipment, grinding, friction folder how to. I also like the Loveless book and Jim Hirsoulas The Complete Bladesmith I haven't gotten his others yet. I found a Book by Tim McReight and one by David Boye in my library system. I've found all of these helpful. BIG TIP.Do not loan out your books, they don't come back. I now offer to photocopy a section to share with someone, saves a lot of grief.

Hey Magnum, here are two excellent books on the subject, "How To Make Knives" by Richard W. Barney and Robert W. Loveless, and also "Step-by-Step Knifemaking" by David Boye. I've also heard some good things about Wayne Goddard's new book I think it's "The Wonder of Knives" but I haven't looked at it yet myself.

Magnum,

I will be picking up a copy of Wayne Goddards book on Sat. at the Oregon Knife Show. I'll let you know about it later on this weekend.

Hey All:
I just got Wayne Goddard's new book. It is a fountain of information for both beginner or experienced maker. Definitely worth picking up.

By all means see if you can get a copy of ED FOWLER'S KNIFE TALK.
Not only is it a very entertaining read it is full of WHY TO information. A lot of books tell you how but Ed goes beyond that.
Two thumbs up!
Rex
