I am a nob at sharpening but i have been sharpening my own knives for a while know ide say about 15 years and I have had my fair share of trouble with this skill/talent. I sit at home a lot now a days and got to thinking to my self that I am going to refine my skills at knife honing. I have always been able to painfully remove arm hair with the tools that I have had at hand, a coarse pocket stone and a old peace of leather. I came across some of your posts on this forum when searching google and started to read. The information that you have provided to me has helped me so much that I went out and got myself a smiths tri hone from lowes and have refined my shills to the point that now I can very easily take arm hair off with very little pressure on my arm and in one stroke all hair is gone! all this in one hour of work using some of the info you have shared with all of us. THANK YOU very much for sharing your talent.

You are very welcome. And welcome to BF :)

A whole lot of us (myself included) have learned much from Jason. Sort of boggles my mind, how far I've progressed since joining up here in '09, and his posts had a very large influence on that.

You better listen to the MAN!! Has helped me tons and always seems to know how to overcome my sharpening hurdles. I've improved drastically with his help. On top of that, there is no one more generous. Jason walks the walk, talks the talk, and always gives the straight dope.

Thanks, guys

David, you have become quite the educator yourself.

Mag, I always enjoy watching someone progress. Glad I could assist along the way.

I will have to post some pics of my amiture job. It is not purdy but with time I hope to refine that un even edge to a nice even look, I think once I can do this over and over again I will invest in some finer grit stones. I do not think I will go past 8k with them the white stone that comes with the tri kit is scary to me but I want to be able to just touch hair on my arm and feel it grab it. I am all about using the least amount of effort while using a cutting tool.

While he and I don't alway see eye to eye on everything, I've certainly learned to always read his posts and think about what he has to offer. It's usually right on the money.
