What's up everyone, this is my 3rd post on the forums, sorry if I'm posting to much and being annoying. I'm new to the world of knifes and want to grow have a huge collection one day so I'm very curious. My last post was about which knife do I get for EDC, the Benchmade 940 or the Benchamde 551-1 griptiliian. After thoroughly going through the comments and reading all the great advice, I have decided on the griptilian. However I failed to mention I have small hands, like female hands, I know it sucks but I have to live with them. Now my problem is I love a knife grip/handle that fills up my whole hand and one I can get a nice grasp on. I like bigger blades too, that being said should I consider the mini grip or just stick with the full size? Also for the future what are knifes you guys recommend for guys with small hands? Ps I know one day I will probably have a mini grip and a 940 but that won't be for a while. This will be a huge purchase for me, and I will probably EDC the knife for about 5 months, before I think about buying a new knife, so I want something I'll be comfortable with. Sorry for the book i'm just very curious and love to hear from the experts which are you guys.

You'll be fine with the Grip. Guys and Gals the world around have used it and loved it. If you get a full sized grip and have issues, you can sell it here for most of what you paid for it and immediately drop back to a Mini-Grip.

I would recommend staying with the full size griptillians, if you like have a full grip on the knife. Both the 940 and 551 are pretty average size knives in terms of blade and handle length so they should be fine for you.Small hands normally don't have an issue unless it is maybe a massive knife then it can be hard to manipulate sometimes. However, small knives with big hands are an issue. I don't have massive hands, but a mini grip for my medium-large size hands is too small to be comfortable.

Some of the smaller knives I enjoy are the spyderco
native 5
caly 3
sage series
domino
(or dice similar to the domino but smaller).

All of these knives have forward choils which I like.

I'm gonna +1 the Sage series (Nos. 2 or 5 are my faves). Plus, they're just really well-made knives.

Knife guys with small hands creep me out.

I'll look into all of them thank you

I have big hands and quite frankly, big knives put me off. I much prefer the Rat 2 compared to the Rat 1 and I have both. It really isn't about the feel or fit for me though. Bigger knives are just heavier, more intrusive when being used, and for me, they take up too much pocket real estate. I doubt I will ever own a Bowie knife but I can't get enough Bird and trout knives.

Different strokes... What ever works for you. No need to let others make up your mind for you.

Yeah I see how you feel about them being more in the way and heavier. Like you said everyone's different, I like feeling my knife in my pocket lol. I hate when I feel like it's not there because I forget I have it, also I love having a full size because it can do whatever I need it to do no matter what. thank you for the advice.

In the folding knife world it doesn't make that much difference, so I wouldn't worry about it.
If we were talking broadswords, handguns, or bowling balls, your concerns might be legitimate.

Never thought about it that way, you opened my eyes a little. Thank you for the great advice

Just stay away from finger grooves.
They force you to hold the knife a certain way and the finger spacing may not feel right for your small hands, I know they almost never do in my smaller hands.
Go for the most neutral handles you can get.

Other than that I say it's normally big hands that have problems.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of finger grooves at all, and like I said I'm new, so I never would've thought the guys with bigger hands would have more problems thank you.

Ya I hear guys say that a lot. "I can do anything with a big knife that a small knife can do"

I then suggest they offer their knife to the surgeon on their next operation. lol
Lmao yeah that's a good point, I'm just saying I like the bigger knife and blades all personal preference
