Knife's in the news

Here is a qoute from the website
"they’re easily concealed, widely available, need no ammunition or maintenance and no training to use."

Gee, nice to see that they were able to state the obvious. Seems the media up in Canada also treats people as if they were retarded!

A heartbreaking domestic crime leaves police and a community shaken and a mother and two young children dead.

Apperently, these people have never heard of a run-on sentence.

Thanks for posting that. I just read it, and being from Toronto, almost all those incidents happened within 20 minutes of my parents' house. Scary stuff. Giving the rest of us a bad name. Chances are not a single one of the knives used was worth more than twenty bucks.

This article is nothing but hysteria and fear-mongering to convince people that knives and those who use them are evil and to be shunned. Of course, the article doesn't give useful or relevant information like the phone number for self-defense trainers or the positive use of weapons for self defense. Disgusting. :barf:

Cause the general populace to hate weapons and self-reliance and the people will be easily defeated en masse

So getting rid of the knives will magically solve the violence?

I think those big two-pronged forks used to BBQ are the next great Canadian weapon. If stopped you could just say you were on the way to a moose/goose cookout.

Naw. The next great Canadian weapons are hockey sticks. Simple to use, don't require ammunition, undetectable with metal detectors, and dangerous as heck when used to "spear", "slash", or "high-stick" an unarmoured victim. And we're all trained in their use from birth :).

Yikes, another blow to the positive image we (at least some of us) try to cultivate.

What governments ignore (on purpose, so that they may create a campaign platform for re-election) is the next occurrence in the logical sequence, following bans on objects that could be used as weapons. In the case of countries where handguns are banned, the criminal element continues to possess the prohibited items. The law-abiding citizens may give up their right to bear arms, but those on the other side of the law are unaffected. This does not stop crime, period.

In the case of a potential knife ban, the same will occur. Those who decide to disobey the law (those who commit acts of violence, using knives as weapons) will most likely keep on doing so. Those who carry knives as tools will have to make a choice: give up an important tool that proves itself useful every day (performing any task from a mundane chore, to potentially saving the life of someone in an emergency), or find yourself on the other side of the law.

It's a pity, and I'm glad the country where I live hasn't gone down that road (yet).
