STeven and I will be doing LIVE coverage on Periscope tomorrow from the Plaza Cutlery California Custom Knife Show in Anaheim commencing around 10amPT.

Follow us on Twitter and Periscope @KnifeTVLive and be sure to ask any questions.

We will try to show all the knives from all the makers.

Do interviews with some of the best makers in attendance

and cover the John Young, Emerson and Hinderer Lotteries.

Adam -- I located this link.

http://onperiscope.com/

it has an aggregate of feeds from periscope users (had never heard of this app before but one learns daily). Now my question is, what will be the identifier so that a computer user who wishes to view the Plaza Cutlery show will be able to do so? Never have tweeted nor do I use other social media but at least this seems to be non invasive but one just has to know what you will do to be able to allow users easy and friendly access to the appropriate site.

Sounds like it could be fun. Hope to be able to spend some time viewing.

One issue I did just find that many items show live but actually have ended so it is very important to be sure that viewers can easily find the broadcast and find that it is actually live.

Hopefully the camera operator will be a professional and know basic motion picture technique and have good sound quality and good image quality as after quickly viewing many of the broadcasts, they were difficult to spend any time viewing due to lack of good ability by the creators.

TIA

Login to Periscope and just search @knifetvlive or follow us on Twitter and when we initiate a broadcast you will see tweet with link to go to it in Periscope.

Sounds fantastic. We live in a new age.

PLEASE hold the camera in landscape mode.... ;) LOL!

I'll try to participate.

Murray,

I am the operator and we have a good mic and the best possible resolution for the medium. Periscope is live and the quality supported right now is what it is. The advantage is being able to participate live.

You can search us on any third party websites by our handle which is @knifetvlive

We only shoot landscape Coop. Hope to see you there. We will do multiple short form broadcasts so follow us on Twitter and install Periscope app for best experience.

yes Coop I notice that too many folks record in portrait mode which simply wastes most of the landscape computer screen. Also, Jake, camera and lighting are 2 components. Good slow use of zoom and panning or dolly work is also very important as no matter how slow you may do each it is usually faster than good for viewing. Be sure that, also, whenever doing a pan, start with the body turned to where the pan will end and keeping the feet still, rotate to the beginning of the pan location and rotate to where you end. Much easier to hold the camera steady (if not using a tripod) when comfortable at the end of a pan when the next move which may be a dolly or a zoom than being comfortable at the beginning of the pan effort. Just practice a bit beforehand and it will become second nature if you are not already familiar with this technique.

We will try to find the broadcast one way or the other when not doing any outdoor work. Certainly looking forward to it as the show is a good one although it was 11 years ago when I attended this show in the past after we returned from Hawaii.

at about 2:45 EDT went to the site mentioned in my original post and found nothing related to the knife show and there seemed to be no search or address bar so perhaps someone can post an url to locate how to view the broadcast or maybe it was discontinued prior to my time after my Son departed for early Thanksgiving dinner with his out-laws.

They were there!

Thanks for posting that photo Adam....

We are working on getting the videos up....interviewed John Young, Hank Greenberg from Microtech and Brian Tighe live, and apparently the video quality is better if we DON'T do live, so we did a long sit down with Ernie Emerson and this one from Rick Hinderer NOT live, that Jakester is editing lightly and we realize that although we have a ways to go before we approach the production values of Joe Paranee...hope you all like it anyway!

Nice video Kohai999, I see that Rick Hinderer is quite an enthusiastic nerd about knives. :D

STeven -- hope you will post what you recorded (at least I hope you recorded) the days presentation so we can see more folks and knives.

Wish I could have found the live feed but no luck.

You have to be logged on to Periscope, Murray. Am not sure how it works, and don't care frankly, I use a BlackBerry phone and love it.

Jakester is the half of this venture who is convinced it is a viable platform....we will see in the long run. We have more events coming up this month, including another attempt at the Ferrum Forge next weekend.

The Emerson video is up on the Knife TV Channel on YouTube.

Nice work Steven with the interviews. You really are documenting some history there. I am a Hartsfield fan and it is good to see some current shout outs and his influence on makers. His work is not for everyone but he sure inspired many of our current famous makers.

These videos will really make a nice historical record for future knife enthusiast as well.

Great interview

You and Ernie really did Bob and Phill credit

Great stuff

Get a tripod and a real camera

Cell phones are for calling people :)
