I went the the SMKWs this Sat for Rep day, the place was packed. I wanted to check some new knives out and meet Toooj. So I met up with Toooj, and chatted for a minute, checked out a couple Kabars and BKTs, the Cutlass machete, and the BK9 (can't have too many). Cruised around for a while (touching and feeling all kinds of knives), it was a great time. I didn't get any new Kabar/Beckers though ($$$). They had a BSI cutting competition (awesome, check youtube), and 'bout 1200 people in the store. Knifemaking demos, SALES SALES SALES, Lansky was giving away sacks of stuff with a signal purchase (that guy didn't want to take anything after the show). And an awesome knife museum that spans the entire history of knives, from the stone age to the moon (seriously).

Now, the good news.

When I was chatting with Toooj, he mentioned 2011. 40 different product releases next year, it gonna be a big year, that's why everyones been so busy. looks like next year is gonna be good, start saving for it now, :D:thumbup:

I'm jealous. I went to SMKW with my dad many moons ago. Very cool place. Excited about the stuff coming out next year too.

40 new products. nice!

none of them machax though :>

I haven't asked and they ain't saying, but I got a list of hopefuls:

Old
Brute
Machax
Patrol machete

New
BKX 10" long, .250" thick, good flat grind
BKXX Tweener, 4" long .188" thick, Scandi grind
Kabar/Becker/ESEE Collab I'm thinking either a ESEE 5 handle, with a BK2 blade
or
ESEE 4 with a half choil and a Becker handle.

I only go with the Becker handles on the ESEE blades, 'cause the ESKABAR is Becker blade and ESEE handle.

I gots a big grin just thinin' about the possibilities. Moose

the future is bright. there's only a few old models that aren't being made now. the Machax is a definite. who can say about the machete - there's a LOT of options on the market now - very competitive space - how much need/desire is there?

It was good to see you as well. Sorry to barge in all dirty and smelling of campfire, LOL, and disrupt breakfast. Thanks for the coffee, I needed it, after freezing my butt off Sat night. :D:thumbup:
