I made yet another piece based on a Sheffield style full-tang handle design. The customer wanted something for medieval re-enactments... I'm not familiar with specific designs, but we agreed on this pattern that approximates a "classic" dagger look, without any of the hassles of anti-dagger legislation.
Its essentially a full-bore working knife (if required). 8-1/2inch blade of 1/4inch thickness O1 carbon steel. Flat ground, Scothbrite finished, antiqued finish on the blade. The finish involved some orangejuice, lemon juice, a piece of raw rump steak, tomato sauce, French mustard, Birchwood Casey's blueing paste and some automotive polish paste !!
Edge quenched, triple tempered, like any other knife, mild steel double guard, tapered tang and handle slabs of recycled rosewood from old furniture and brass pins. There is no glue or adhesive used anywhere on this piece.
I'm still trying to figure out an authentic looking sheath for it. I'm keen on some feedback on its appearance and whether or not it suits the theme. At worst, it'll make a great performance working knife... Thanks. Jason.
