I got mine from Amazon.Com yesterday and I my first impression is that it is better than last years. This year Ken cross indexes the makers names and photos of their blades so you can see examples of their work. There is also a cross reference of earlier editions (95-99). The directory seems very well done. I'm pretty satisfied with my copy.

I always look forward to this book.

Regards,

The main articles are very good with contributions from Bernard Levine, Steven Dick, Bruce Voyles and I really enjoyed Butch Winter's article on a counterfeit knife he bought that may not be a counterfeit knife....

There is a section on sheaths this year, too which is really nice. I hope our own Gary Graley will be in it next year. The pictures are all B&W but they are really well done.

Doh! I just found the Bladeforums store/Amazon.com link and ordered "Knives 2000". Bladeforums gets some bennies from this and I got a nice discount (and Amazon's usual fast service, I trust)!

George,

Your knives are pictured on pg. 111 "High end kitchen knives, a really full array all in 440C and black paper micarta ... serious stuff."

The book is better this year. Better pictures on better paper. More substance than 99' - a good buy.

If you are going to buy it online, support the site and order it here.

And Kodiak already did a review.

I get a real thrill seeing the names & work of BFC members in this book. Probably more there than I know.

George, I know where you're coming from. Last year I had wait and buy it from Louise Weyer at the LV CLassic. Chapters got it a couple of months later. This year Chapters shows it available on-line with a delivery from the publisher in 3-5 weeks. I broke down and ordered it from Amazon, who had it in stock.

Guys,
could someone tell me how heavy is this book? A friend of mine is currently in TX so I would ask him to buy it for me but I do not want to bother him with book which is too heavy . He is already taking 3 knives for me.

There are dimensions on Amazon.com but not weight.

Thanks.

David
