Not long ago I received my copy of KNIVES 2019, and as per my habit I looked thru quickly and noted what knives appealed to me. I stopped on page 83 to look at a Knife made by a David McConnell, who I was not familiar with. I did a quick look in the Directory in the back of the book and he was not listed. I checked a few others, and they were not listed either. Over two days I checked every knife maker listed from page 61 to 100 and found just over 50 of them were not listed in the Directory. I got tired and did not check the other 70 pages, but did a few spot checks and found another nine makers not listed. I would think for a young or new knife maker to see his knife had made it into the book, and then realize his contact information had not made it, would be a bitter disappointment. I am told that sometimes photographers send in photos but not the contact information, still it seems to me to be a sloppy job to have so many makers not listed in the Directory. John

Yeah, can't speak for the magazine but when strolling through Instagram or Pinterest I come across some badass cool knife and click the link to rush to their website so I can hopefully order only to find that they are never for sale. Some one-off custom or long discontinued knife I was will never find.

I had hopes when they brought the knives annual back they would find a real knife guy for the editor. Say Bruce Voyles. No such luck, Joe Kertzman again.

Mr. McConnell is associated with North Woods Forge, according to the Google. There are also a lot of results for that name, so I may have got the wrong one. But it's an option for you to try.

If you buy the book you expect that information to be provided rather than forcing you to hunt on google And why didn't Kertzman, other than he doesn't care, do it?

Ironically, I just looked thru my Feb 2019 issue of Blade Magazine and in the "What's New" section on page 70 is that same knife by David McConnell, this time with his address and phone number. By the way above him is a Chef's Knife by C. Luis Pina, and the town he lives in is YELM, WA, not YERM, WA. John
