How often do you use knives 8 inches or longer? I want one but I just can't seem to pull the trigger. I don't use my ratmandu much. Most of the fixed blAdes I carry often enough are shorter than 4". How often do you use your larger fixed blades?

I was using my Condor Kumunga (10") today to chop small saplings and vines out of my neighbors "flower beds".

I LOVE my BK9, however it rarely makes the cut. When I head out if the city it's usually to mountain bike, hunt, or fish and space for equipment is very limited. The BK9, axe, and a dozen other outside toys generally get left behind.

I guess I need to go camping one weekend just for the sake of playing with my toys and enjoying the scenery.

I love my H&K Feint, but rarely use it. It's stored in the back corner of my closet at the moment collecting dust. If I would go on a prolonged week+ trip to the woods I would likely pack it, but ≤5" is better suited for carry around town, and machete works better for clearing brush around the property.

I use my bk9 quite often. Then again, I bring it instead of a hatchet.

So if I'm going to go "camping", it comes. If I'm going out for a hike or something like that, I'll take something smaller (Mora usually).

I'd imagine the answers will be very different depending on where people live, and what types of activities they like to do. As terms like "camping" mean different things to everyone.

3 of my work knives are 11 to 12 inch blades, chef.
3 of my fixed blades is 10 and 11.5 inch. I don't carry these, they either stay in the wood pile or under my bedroom pillow.

Good call, my chefs knives are mostly over 8in (most are ~10in). And while those aren't work knives for me, they sure do get used more often than my others.
