In January I'll be heading down to Arkansas for vacation time at a friends, I've noticed that Blade HQ has better pricing and was hoping to get something while down there, does anybody know if it'll be fine if I just throw it in my luggage and fly back to Canada?

Should be fine. I fly from Toronto to Florida at least once per year with my sharp and pointy EDC items in my checked luggage and have never had an issue. On the other hand, I've been stopped a couple times because of my little analog luggage scale when passing thru the X-rays. It's the type that's round, about 3" diameter that you hang your luggage from to weigh it. They always think it's a bomb or something!

ETA: just noticed you didn't specify carry-on or checked. You'd definitely want to check your luggage if you want to keep your knives.

Yeah, i was thinking of getting a ZT while down there; for sure i wont have it on my carry on, I\m just worried about them seizing it from my checked luggage.

Should be safe. As I mentioned in another thread, I highly recommend putting knives in a smaller bag inside your checked luggage, put that bag under your clothing, and make sure nothing in your luggage will attract their interest (ex: Messy wires, large objects that are opaque to the scanners, etc). The TSA and customs shouldn't care about any knives in there.

I wouldn't worry about it. I put all my knives in a small Maxpedition pouch and stuff it in a cargo pocket in one of my pants just for good measure in case they search my luggage. In all my years of international air travel I've always carried knives/multi-tools and the rest of my EDC gear and never had anything siezed from my luggage.
Ironically, on more than one occasion from the US back to TO I've forgotten my Leatherman Wave and small SAK in my carry on and it was never found until I got home and realized that I'd forgotten to put them in my checked luggage.
If you're really concerned, just mail the knife home and keep the packaging in your luggage (if you keep your packaging).

Which ZT are you looking for? You can try S&R Knives or Guardian Gear, both here in TO. I got my ZT0350 and 560 from S&R and just got my 566 from Jay at Guardian Gear last month.

LOL, I was typing my response just as Eric was. Seems we both do the same thing as far as putting them in a small pouch.

I'm looking for ZT with the KVT bearings, or maybe lion steel sr-2, or a microtech.
