I'm interested in both knives and sailing, and upon cracking open the Nov/Dec issue of Small Craft Advisor, I found to my delight a combination of the two. The editorial ("Captain's Log") on page 6 starts as follows:
"I'll never foget being at a friend's home and asking to use her dictionary. It took a while for the answer to register. 'You don't... have one? I marveled.
Everyone who doesn't live under a bridge simply must have certain items - like that dictionary - and a flashlight, scissors, pliers, screwdrivers. And it baffles me how many men somehow muddle through without a pocket knife."
The editor (Craig Wagner) then goes on to describe a history of various pocket knives he's had and how happy he is with the H1 bladed Spyderco he has recently started carrying. [Started since Spyderco began advertising in SCA.]
It's refreshing for me to see a positive depiction of EDC knives in non-knife related media, so kudos to Craig for saying what we knife knuts go on about all the time.
For anyone interested in small boats (chiefly sail), SCA is a great magazine, btw.
