Knives and Train Travel

I travel quite a bit between Boston and NYC. I have started to use the train quite a bit and it is working out well (especially when you now have to allow lots of extra time if you are planning to travel by plane).

On CNN, they just announced that train terminals also will be subjected to "...much more security". Does this mean that knives are now going to be restricted on trains also?

If "security increases" will knives automatically be looked at as "weapons"?

I assume the security at train terminals and onboard is the responsibility of the owners, and the goverment won't step in (yet). The terrorists can't exactly drive a plane into the side of a building or other high occupancy area quite as efficiently as a plane. I personally doubt they'd waste their time.

If you're really worried about it, drop your congressman a note. They need to know that many of their constituents are still appreciative of their civil liberties.
