I remember just about 8 months ago, I was seriously spending a lot of my time deciding whether or not to get a Byrd Cara Cara or a Kabar Dozier. I had a hard time justifying it.

Then today, I just looked down, and saw a Small Sebbie. I just realized that I have a $300 knife. How very quickly my sickness has grown. And its not just a Sebbie. Just looking around my desk I see a Spyderco Sage II and a Doug Ritter Grip. Looking in the bread box that I keep my knives in, I see Spyderco's, Benchmades, and a Kabar.

How fast has your sickness grown?
 
Not as fast as yours. lol

About two years ago, I got a Gerber Gator and about a year after that a Kershaw Tanto Blur. I stopped buying knives for a while.

Then I started feeling the itch once more and started flipping through Spyderco's 2009 catalog. I decided to get a Salt 1 and test out the H1 steel (that was like 8 months ago). Then I decided to get a Ladybug and a Persistence about 2 months ago.

My most recent purchase was the Izula. I just got it last week. Now I'm saving up for the Rat Pack knife. After that I will wait for the new Delica FFG for my next purchase. I just can't stop. :D
 
After buying a benchmade 940 I decided to stop buying knives for a while. I figured that I could wait until after Xmas and see if any new knives come out (soon to come Kershaw speedform:D:D:D). I am sure that I wont hold out that long though; my collection is still in its fledgling state and I have some expendable funds to wither.

I really want to get some nice hatchets too.

My habit is only about 100 per month. I buy smaller ones if I my budget is not there. I love this disease.
 
Just you wait until you get into custom knives!!! Just you wait.........
 
Mine didn't grow that fast either. I bought a fixed blade hunter a year and a half ago and I now own around 30 knives, but I haven't gone over the $100 mark. Waiting for the right time.
 
I used to collect when I was younger in my teens. I always enjoyed, but then fell out of it for quite some time. When I fell out of collecting I had about 8 decent knives. At the end of 2007, for some reason, I got back into knives. In that time I've accumulated over 150 knives. At one point I had over 200, but sold some and traded multiples for more quality steel. I am an addict and I know it. At one point I would drop hundreds of dollars a week on multiple blades. I've gotten to a point where now I'm shopping around and buying only what I think is quality blades. The sickness is still there, but I've learned to curb it.
 
I statred about 18 months ago with the purchase of one pocket knife....90 knives later i realize i have a ebay and knife addicition...i am selling a bunch of them off...but i still check ebay everyday...very sad!
 
i started out with one knife 2 years ago, and I've bought at least one knife a month since then. I've had knives my whole life, but nothing of any quality
 
You guys should see the cmp m1 garand forum or the 1911 forum. Same disease different strain of the virus :)
 
I'm at just over fifty knives in seven years.

Last year I kind of splurged (accumulating almost half of my whole collection in one year:eek:), but this year has returned to a much more reasonable pace.
 
Yes,yes it is... but I find it very exciting getting new knives in the mail,it's almost like an addiction. It's also very satisfying getting that certain knife you've been drooling over,for however long, finally in your hand.
 
When you shell out $900 for a custom switchblade, you're f*cked :D
 
Its bad disease, I don't complain though... 15 years Ago I had one puukko and 3 Victorinoxes. Now I got 6 puukko's, A USMC Ka-Bar with 1095 steel, 2 Leatherman Micra's, Leatherman Pulse, Leatherman Blast 12 victorinoxes and following folders:
CRKT BladeLock

Haller Karambit
Kershaw Lahar
Kershaw Needs Work Black

and I have Böker+ folder in mail with the fact I am looking Victorinox cadet and Buck 55 before end of this year...

When this year started... I had only 2 Folders, both CRKT...

I've put what... $400 USD's on knives this year... Well I had to compensate the fact I had not bought a blade for myself for over 4 years. Well, the Helle Symphony was most costly of my this years knives, costing nearly $100 alone...
 
This month I had seven knives coming in the mail at once...... that's a lot, even for me.

Unfortunately one seems to have gone missing so now its just six. :(
 
LOL, you may add Victorinox Finlandia Prime ( Sapphire and Logo version of Victorinox Manager ) Keyring knife.. I just got one ^^
So this month's haul is: Kerhsaw Lahar, Victorinox Finlandia Prime, Böker+ folder and... I also placed order Victorinox Finlandia Lion ( a localized version of Spartan I guess ) Geeh... And its only 10th day of this month and my count is 4 knives...

On the otherhand, I have never quite enjoyed any disease this much...
