How many knives do you usually lying/sitting around your house or apartment ? I guess the kitchen and the garage should be included too.

I don't have any kids around the house, but if I did I'm sure if I did I'd have less out than I do.

I usually have anywhere between 3-6. I usually have a few I just haven't put back in the box and put away yet.

I have no kids, live alone. But most of my knives are locked up just because. The only ones out are my EDC, whatever they may be. And on my dresser a sword, and all of my large Cold Steel knives in front of that. I keep one El Cheapo switch blade, bought from the corner Shell station, in my kitchen for opening packages and stuff.

That's it? Including in the kitchen?

Yes, the kitchen is included too. I edited my thread to add the kitchen.

I'm not including kitchen for myself tho.I usually only have a paring knife out. Sometimes a folder is on the counter too.

I got a Flint paring knife(about 50 years old) with Vanadium steel for $.50 the other day. Now I finally have a paring that wiil hold an edge for a while!

Kids in the house. Most of my knives stay in my closet, on my belt or in my pocket. The only thing that stays out is the Musashi katana on my dresser.

Not including the regular kitchen block set or tool box: usually 1 or 2 in the bedroom, 2 in the EDC box, 1 in the EDC bag, 2 or 3 in the garage, and 1 hidden from wifey that she doesn't know about yet. The multi-tools I have to make sure stay hidden or my littlest one will find them and lose them. He's always like the pliers and now likes finding the screwdriver and popping in and out.

I always have an EDC on me when out. At home, I keep a sheathed 'outside' knife in the patio for various random tasks that come up, like opening a new bag of dog food, cutting cord, string, etc. It's an old spyderco native in cpm440v.

My knives are my children!! Haha, joking! But I usually have at least half a dozen or so laying around, usually one torn apart and always a few in my pockets!

There is a wooden storage piece that houses Knives dedicated to the kitchen. There are
A couple valet trays in the bedroom that house an SnG and more small flashlights and
Gadgets than anything. My SMF on a belt sheath handles just about everything I need.
No katanas, kurkuries or anything like that around.

Have a few mora companions hidden around the house just cuz.

Off topic but my G-PA hides a glock 17 in his diswasher. Before anyone gets up in arms he doesn't use the dishwasher.... Very often

Lets see right now there are 3 in the living room, a Laguiole, a Higonokami, and a kiridashi thats usually there for utility.

5 in the kitchen. Two paring, a small utility, and two larger chef's knives

and 3 upstairs an SAK and tasman salt in the night stand and another kiridashi by my leather work stuff

As well as two fixed blades by my camping gear, and two axes (1 wall hanger and 1 user)

There's also a sword and tomahawk somewhere or other that used to be hung up on the wall when I was single.

so 17 lol, which is pretty much everything I have these days.

I have a toddler in the house, so I don't leave knives lying around, and I don't like it when other people don't immediately clean and put away kitchen knives. I do keep a number in a drawer in the kitchen.

Of course, out in the garage I have 8 swords lying on my desk because I haven't built a case for them yet.

I have over nine out in the front room alone. Drives my wife nuts. Almost all of my knives are out in the open because my wife and I bought a small place and I am still figuring out where stuff is going to go.

Yeah, with my toddler getting more and more curious every day, all Knives are out of his reach, edc's all in a tacklebox, top shelf of closet, top dresser drawer, kitchen knife blockset on a high deep counter, misc knife drawer locked, high shelf in laundry room where my 2 work Knives lie, and in the garage in tool boxes, cabinets, and on top shelves.

Used to have knives/swords everywhere, but now I try to keep them put away for safety. Still got to do a quick run-through of the house before kids come to visit!

A lot.

A little over a dozen kept handy for occasional to frequent rotation. Unknown quantity in both kitchen and out in the backyard storage shed/room. The rest are locked away.

With better than 20 years between my first son and my second I've had to learn again to not leave knives anywhere young curious hands can find them. My youngest is less than two years old and seems to share my love of sharp things even more so than his much older brother. His reach increases almost daily it seems as does his climbing ability and curiosity.
