knives as wedding gifts

I was thinking of giving my groomsmen knives as the groomsmen gifts for my wedding. Probably going to get something engraved on the side so the handles need to be made of an engravable material. I'm thinking a nice(but not TOO expensive) folder with a pocket clip. We're all outdoorsy-hunter types so I thought this would make a good gift, just can't decide which knife to pick.., so I thought I'd see what ya'll think. Thanks!

I think its a great idea! I don't know your price range but the Byrd line seems like a good place to start. SS handles will allow you a lot of choice as to the place you'll engrave it.

price range probably no more than $100 per knife.., the less the better, although I don't want it to be a cheapie. I'd like something that will last a good while and looks good too

The SS Spyderco Cricket makes a great groomsmans gift. They're super thin, lightweight, and engraveable.

I am doing the same thing and went with the SS spyderco dragonfly, I am having these engraved and than I got some fenix E01 lights as well.

One of my friends recently got married and gave Leatherman Waves to the Groomsmen. This was very-much appreciated by everyone.

Keep in mind the old superstition that one must also give some kind of money when giving a knife as a gift, otherwise one will "sever the friendship". One of the new dollar coins is ideal.

The old tradition is that when you give a knife as a gift, you also give some small coin with it and then the receipient can pay you for the knife with the coin.

While pocket knives as groomsmen's gifts are fine and, indeed, quite traditional, a knife to the couple as a wedding gift (except, of course, for table knives) is not traditionally done since knives are about division and weddings are about union. This is especially true in oriental culture; you do not give a knife as wedding gifts as it would be perceived as curse on the marriage.

I like the Alox SAKs like the Farmer for this purpose. Engravable, but no pocket clip. Multitools are also appreciated.
