Knives Based on the Drop Ship Model

Drop shipping knives are different somehow? I suppose we could spin up "shipped by FedEx" and "delivered by UPS" threads too.

Also, I think the top knife is a Void, not a Micro Evo.

Eh it’s not much different from the hundreds of “Knives and X” threads

Yeah drop shipping is like a micro model of Massdrop. Say you want a new Emerson knife, you go to Joe Schmoe's KnifesRus Webeite and give him $300.00 for the knife and $75 for S&H.

He doesn't send you the knife right away though; he waits till he's got ten orders and then calls up Emerson to get them and Emerson ships them direct to the individuals. Joe just collects the $$$ and ignores you when there's a problem.

I'm familiar with drop shipping, it just seems like a weird thing to group knives by the method of fulfillment. If ordering a knife from Designer X means at some point later I'll receive a shipment from China maker Y directly, outside of delay it's not much different from getting the knife from Store Z (who received it from China maker Y directly earlier and can now provide it to me immediately).

OP did you mean "Pre-Order" knives vs. "Drop Shipping"?

Yeah, OP seems confused. SharpByDesign doesn't drop ship, they handle shipments to the customers. Brian pre-orders everything, Reate sends him all the knives, and he distributes them. "Drop shipping" would entail someone other than the seller shipping them to the buyer. Maybe the confusion is because Massdrop/Drop uses the pre-order model for some things?

As for pre-paying for a product to be delivered later, that's actually a very easy way to help ensure most people who want a product get it. If it's a product that will have limited availability when it's released (like the SBD knives), pre-ordering lets you call dibs on one pretty easily. While waiting sucks, it beats the madness of racing others to checkout first for whatever the latest sprint run is.

Yeah, preorder is what I was getting at. I grouped them based on the idea that these knives are more difficult to buy regularly, so they tend to have smaller batches. That makes focusing on one group of models just a smaller pool of knives to talk about

Seems like the thread is a bit far off from my original intent, so I'm gonna lock this thread.
