Judging by the amount of traffic on the Busse for sale forum, and the fact most knives listed there sell quickly and to other hogs and sometimes back to the original hog who sold it in the first place, I have come up with a theory: All the Busse knives just circulate amonst this community, with cash just traded back and forth in the end, but the net proceeds a wash in the end...
It would almost be simpler if everyone just selected two knives from their collection every month and sent them to another hog, and in exchange would recieve two new knives from someone else. Every few months we purchase a knife or two from Busse and increase the number traded by one knife for every ten knives that we own. I can hear the music playing: "Its the circle of knife..."
Thoughts? And no, I haven't been drinking yet....

Honestly some values appreciate over time so although it may appear as a straight exchange with little to no monetary gain that is not always the case. Also, I'm sure that there are those who only buy within their needs and trade/sell very infrequently. Howvwer, I am always interested in pass arounds.
