knives comparable to the spyderco manix 2?

Hey. I'm looking at getting the spyderco manix 2 for my next knife but I want to cover all my bases and make sure this is what I really want. If you have any recommendations that compare to the manix that would be great. Ps. I hate liner locks. I much prefer lock backs, ball bearing locks, and axis locks. Must not exceed $125. Thanks!

I much prefer the paramilitary 2 to the manix. Fits my hand much better. It would be nice if you lived somewhere with a shop where you could handle them. In the manix line, I actually prefer the ergos of the manix xl. Nothing against the manix though. It's a great knife and gets a lot of love!

Sorry if this isn't what you're looking for, but get the manix 2. For the price, nothing comes close to it, and besides the price there really isn't anything like it. If you get the FFG version, then the blade, handle, lock, etc is just pretty much perfect.

The only thing that concerns me about the xl is that they moved that screw that was right above the pivot on the regular one and i thought it may weaken the most vulnerable part of the knife

Unless you are gonna be using this for things better done with a fixed blade or other tool, I don't think that's a valid concern and I wouldn't let that be your deciding factor.

Have you ever had the manix get any side to side play that wasn't remedied by the tightening of the pivot screws?

I have not personally, and I've owned one manix 2 and the S90V XL and the regular XL. I also have three normal size manix 2's on the way to me, possibly four, so I'll let you know how those function.

I used to be a stickler for blade play, and if I don't have to have it I won't, but on a super smooth knife like the manix with an ultra strong lock, even if it had some it wouldn't bug me.
