Knives comparable to USMC KA-BAR Fighting Knife

The first thing that comes to my mind is Ontario's USMC fighting knife.

Cold Steel makes one too, but... no, don't go there.

This question would be best handled in General Forum. Moving there now.

i saw a Case made knife at a gun show awhile back that looked identical, but why not just buy the KaBar if that design is what a guy is after?

TOPS knives makes sort of modernized version of the USMC, but be prepared to have new sheath made for it.

Just out of curiousity, why would you want a "Kabar like knife" when the original could be had for less than most of its counterparts?

Somebody beat me to it but yes, the Becker BK7 is very comparable except it has the often desired feature of the full tang construction. Comes with a rather poor sheath...or used to anyway. It is a little bigger than the Ka-Bar but is light and handy.

Scrapyard 711 is also roughly the same kind of purpose knife, but maybe for a little harder use. The various SOG Bowie patterns might also interest you. Out of curiosity, what is it about the original Kabar that makes you want to go for another brand?

Size wise, many.
Glock field knife is a good option, as is an old PAL 36.

(You did not give enough details to give really good advice.)

A long and thin bladed, light knife with excellent balance...

Camillus used to make it, now Meyerco does, CQB1:

Camillus #5685B. They made hundreds of thousands of them, IIRC. You can find them pretty inexpensively.

BUCK 119 and 120 have USMC like features, clip point with fuller, hidden tang, double guard and pinned pommel.

Actually, does KA-BAR still pin the pommel on the USMC, or just peen the tang now?

If you are looking for something more high end look at the blackjack 1-7 and 14. I used to carry a standard KA-BAR and now carry a blackjack M14.

Pretty much identical thread was started a couple of days ago. This is what I posted there:

A question that was NOT asked is "What knife replaced the Ka-Bar for the Marines?"
The Strider NSN marked smf's are only made for the marines. The Strider SMF was the first knife issued to an individual Marine Corps unit in over 60 years and the first tactical folder issued within the USMC.
When DET-1 was formed and their equipment being chosen, they decided not to use the traditional Marine Ka-Bar nor did they go with a dagger design as the Marine Raiders had been issued 60 years previously. Instead they chose Strider's SMF folding knife as their issued blade.
