I thought y'all might get a kick out of this. Today's lesson is on picking your battles.

Saturday morning we'll be leaving for the beach. Last night, I had gotten out the knives I had decided to take (Griptilian, ALOX Farmer, SRM710) and was cleaning and sharpening them. My wife walked by and asked what I was doing. I informed her that I was getting the knives ready for the trip. She said " So you are taking the Griptilian and the SAK that I gave you as gifts? What if you lose them?!" I said " I won't." She said, "I would be very hurt and disappointed if you took those and lost them."

This is now what I'm taking-

Still three good blades. The difference is I paid a combined $25 for the SRM and Boker and found the Camper. Do I prefer the Grip and the ALOX? Sure. Do I really like not having to hear about it? Enough to carry the Camper and the Boker! DIPLOMACY!!! :D
 
That's smart in my book, you will be way ahead in the long run as you know.
 
All you need is a tight pocket clip.:)
I capsized the canoe in Lake Erie 3 times in a row while wearing my DGG SnG...that's a $500 knife.
No worries though, as the pocket clip is better than my canoeing skills.:D
 
I get what you are saying but what is the use of having the good knives if you don't use them. Explain it to her this way what if she wanted to wear some jewelry you gave her but you say what if you lose it.

My couch is comfortable.....but...
 
Nothing like having to make the wife happy. That is why I dont have one so I can carry what I want to!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I appreciate the fact that giving you knives meant something to your wife, enough so that she wants you to be able to continue enjoying them.
