There is a guy on ebay selling a used Battle Rat for $169.00 and when I emailed asking why he was selling a used knive for about $20.00 more than a brand new one factory direct he replied:
"Swamp Rat no longer sales this knife. All SRKW knive have been discontinued except for the folder. The website shows this knife and other but if you click on order knives you will only see the folder avaiable."
He's right about trying to order knives but I'm not seeing any discussion here or at the SR forum about their knives being discontinued. Am I missing something or is the guy full of sh*t?

Yes they are.

The regular line is being revamped with the unvailing to come at Blade.

The Battle Rat does sell for a premium these days even if they are used...

Thanks. I guess I missed an anouncement somewhere along the line. Looking forward to see the new offerings.

Still a great price for a BR! Get it you won't regret it. I just snagged another new sterile BR for $150!

Hi Talos,

The BR was discontinued last November, I believe. Everything else was retired New Years.

It's been a tough year to be a Rat.

Yeah, I bet!
I was mainly interested in the Bog Dog. I hope to heck they come out with a similar design to it. I really liked the looks of that knife and thought it to be a perfect size. Will just have to be patient and see what they come up with.

$20 more for any Swamp Rat knife right now isn't a bad deal.
Except for the rat trap. Take a look at the other prices on Swamp Rats.....
You'll see that an extra $20 is CHEAP!

It's pretty frustrating really. I would love to get either a Busse Battle Mistress or a Swamp Rat Battle Rat, but it's impossible to order one new now and even when it was possible it would take forever to get them. Maybe now that they are forming yet another knife company (Scrap Yard) the situation will change but I doubt it. It's a shame because I have heard absolutely wonderful things about the BM and BR.

I just traded my Battle Rat for a TOPS Steel Eagle 107D. I loved the Rat, but the size of the Steel Eagle will be better for me.

There knives are awesome but there is a lot to be desired with other things. The wait on knives is a joke and a web site that could not be more outdated is another. Like you said. Hopefully things will change but nothing would lead you to believe otherwise (at this time).

you guys share the same frustrations as most new to the swamp. these are things that aren't great, sure, but once you do get a piece of SR101, your frustrations will subside and you will understand the wait times, etc.

either you're willing to deal with it, or you're not. it's pretty much that simple. it sure would be a shame to miss out on a bunch of great blades because of your impatience.

they really are worth the wait, i promise.

I agree 100% and own a few rats. The Ratweiler being my favorite. But. It is ashame they don't run a tighter ship. They are lucky they make a great product because that alone doesn't make a great business reguardless of what product you sell.

I dont agree, (yes they make awsome blades) I think because of the limitations placed on the crew of SRKW, they do an impecable job. Only being able to work at night, grinding all of those blades on at a time is truely hard. Just today at work were working on some wooden racks for sound equipment that have taken almost 2-3 weeks to the point there at right now, and they still need to be resanded, staind, and then have the hardware installed. Thats a lot of labor hours and thats not counting the setback of a ruined top (by my own over zealous sanding). I guess what I mean by all this tanget is that being a semi-porduction company its hard to get a good product out quickly and they do it as quickly as possiable. Sure the wait can be long, but the anticpation of knowing a great product (Knife or hand made sound rack ;))on the way (with an awsome warrenty behind it) is worth it. Sorry if I rannted too much, but thats just how i feel.
