hi I'm new here and to knives in general. I like to read books, please no Internet recommendations. I know there are alot resources but I am looking specifically for books. I am looking for a generic jack of all trades book, maybe a little history, types of knives, types of steel, etc... nothing subject specific only (I.e. making sheaths) any recommendations are appreciated.

Welcome! One of the best books is Levine's Guide To Knives, written by Bernard Levine here of BF. Try to get the 4th edition, as this was the best one, before the publisher messed around with the material in later versions.

A really good little book is "500 Knives" which you can usually find at Barnes & Noble on their "sale" shelves. Also look for David Darom's books. And David Boye's "Knifemaking". Heck, just go to Amazon and search "Knives".

Your best resource is HERE. I was in your shoes 10 years ago when I discovered this place.
