I've barely had the time to contribute around here - I'm just one busy knife maker. :D
Please pardon the dust and 'ricasso crumbs' on these, I just tossed them on the porch and shot them to get something posted.
I'll have 6-7 knives in Atlanta, and not one is completely done yet.
This San Mai fighter, for example, still needs to get the guard hot-blued.
Early 20th century Bakelite for the take-down handle.
The Hunter is something I've not seen much - if anything - of. The blade is 15N20.
I did a kerosene weld on a billet of 15N20 and was thrilled with the way it has turned out. Even the preliminary performance I experimented with has been fantastic.
Carries an Ebony handle.
Ray Kirk has been making 15N20 knives for some time and influenced me to make this.
See ya'll soon in Atlanta.

Looking good Karl, but you better stay off here and get back to work , times running out.

Karl,

Looking forward to seeing you and your cool line-up of knives at Blade.

That Bakelite is such a neat touch, and 15n20 makes for an easy keeper. Good job.

Looking good Karl.

Great idea on the 15n20! I started making some thin bladed knives from the 0.095 stuff a while back and I've yet to experience a better stand alone steel (in my own shop) for edge holding. But too thin for most of what I do. So you don't see any evidence of the welding at all eh?

Nice job, Karl.....that Kirk fellow will get you in trouble if you spend too much time with him! :D

Don't get too close to his V-8 powered rolling mill....

What a character! :)

Great stuff Karl. I love that San Mai. The simplicity and clean lines of the Hunter really stand out. I can't wait to see the rest posted.

Good stuff Karl! Cya soon. Now let's both get to work!

No, Keith. 15N20 would certainly not quality as "San Mai". That would just end up being a three layer forge weld.
This is 1095 and 420 stainless.
