So my son is always trying to get at my knives. He knows that they are dangerous and he is not allowed to play with them but when children are this young very little stops them from trying. So I decided to make him a blunt version of my Esee Izula. I was curious if any of the other members have done this to satisfy their children?

Made my 7 year old brother a blunt stainless steel blank with rounded edges. Little dude loves it and he runs around pretending to be a pirate with it all the time.

That's really cool! I've seen wooden kit knives for kids to put together, you did a great job.

I really like the looks of that dragonfly. I'm going to have to get one and show him how to put it together! Thanks for posting the other options guys I appreciate it.

My daughter's dragonfly kit arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to building it together.

I gave a Spyderco Delica Trainer to my 7 year old Grandson with the understanding that I'd give him a real one when he turned 10 if he treated it properly. Ummmm..... didn't work out so well. He took it to school and got suspended for bringing a 'Weapon' to school. Even though his pencil would have done more damage.
