Knives for left-handed people?

I like Benchmade Axis locks. I also have a left-handed Sebenza and Commander. Who else makes dedicated left-handed or truly ambidextrous versions of their knives?

I'm wondering what else I should be looking to purchase. I like blade lengths around 3" so recommendations in the 2.5" to 3.5" range would be a plus.

Anyone know of a flipper with the release on the opposite side?

Some Spydercos are ambi-dextrous. Pretty much any of their back lock models have clips that can be moved from side-to-side, or tip-up / tip-down.
The Delica is a sub 3.0 knife. The Endura is a near 4.0 knife. Both are ambi.

I'm a lefty, but actually really like a regular "right-handed" liner/frame lock. I can use it with my left hand, pulling the lock over with my thumb, and closing the blade with my left index finger. I find it very fast and comfortable, and it's no more dangerous than the "normal" way, so far as I can tell.

I find the reverse hand pinching action to be more intuitive than the normal push-away lock release.

Maybe I'm weird, but if I was right-handed, I'd probably want lefty knives.

it's a question of the pocket clip for me. if i have to make do w/ a righty clip in my left pocket, it's always a juggling act to get the knife open.

if the clip is reversable, i don't rally care which way the liner moves

I find it's sometimes hard to get to the thumb stud on liner/frame lock knives. It's not an issue with flippers.

Spyderco Ball locks
SOG Arc locks
Cold Steel Ultra locks
Back locks
Balisongs
Autos

Any lever lock style autos are good were legal. My son is a lefty and they work best for him if he holds them upside down. Frank Beltrame makes a limited run of left handled switchblades each year.

I'm a lefty as well and a lot of the benchmade knives have reversible clips I have the 610 Rukus and the 806 AFCK and love'em both...Syderco has the Endura 4(four way clip option) which can't be beat for the buck...I'm carrying mine right now:thumbup:For some reason Kershaw is not lefty friendly concerning clips...

Gotcha -- makes sense, especially for a front left pocket. I most often put a clipped knife in my left back pocket, so a righty clip works well.

I'm left handed and I feel the exact same way. The only thing that's annoying about the frame/liner lock for lefties is that on some models the locking liner is in the way of the thumb hole/stud, making it harder to open.

I'm a lefty, but I just carry right-handed knives. However, my suggestion would be to look into a dedicated left-handed small Sebenza.

Scott Sawby makes knives that are truly ambidextous. I have one of his Combat/Utilities. FANTASTIC knife!

Right handed liner locks can be hit or miss for lefties. I had a Spyderco Military and couldn't get comfortable disengaging the lock. However my Strider GB works great for me. My RJ Martin custom Zing is also good.
I appreciate that CRK makes lefties, and own 2 Sebenzas. They're my favorite knives. Fit like a glove.

Most autos have the button on the "wrong" side of the handle for lefties, and you have to use your index finger instead of your thumb. Kinda awkward, even more so than any other knife design.

+1, I've run into a few knives that I really liked, but they had a raised liner lock that just covered to much of the thumbhole for a southpaw. :thumbdn:
