I had this idea last year and had to scrap it due to an uptick in my daily workload. Things have settled down and I think I might have the time to actually pull it off so we're revisiting it.

Please vote for the knives you'd like to see reviewed. I've tried to select knives that I thought were interesting and maybe a little offbeat.

We all kind of know how a Spyderco PM2 is going to perform as an EDC knife. Same goes for a Griptilian, a 940, a ZT or any of the milliion and forty-two titanium framelock flippers out there, but how about an Ohta friction folder? Or maybe a GT OTF? Maybe one of Kizer's cheaper VG-10 models?

These are all knives we can probably formulate opinions on based on size and materials, but has anyone really spent some time with them? Each month I'll select a new knife and carry it for at least 5 days a week. Then, at the end of the month, I'll put together a review here and maybe on YouTube detailing how that month went along. How many times did it need sharpening, stropping, etc.? How much did I notice it in the pocket? What specifically was it used to cut and how often?

I always wonder how much time is spent with a knife before a review was put up online. I've heard stories of "gritty action" only to find that after a week of flipping my own knife it was buttery smooth. Did they get a lemon or did they only flip it a few times and then write a review?

Hopefully I'll be able to get a better picture of how some of the lesser known knives available perform when given their fair shot. The post below will detail my interest in each knife.

1: Benchmade 810-1801 -

I've always been curious about the Contego. I owned one briefly, but didn't really carry it and ended up trading it. It's a gigantic knife with a love it or hate it handle. I like the look of this particular variant.

2: Buck 110 LW C&C exclusive -

I didn't know this existed until a couple of days ago. It's a 110 drop point with a clip, aluminum bolsters and micarta scales... What's not to love? I'd like to see how the aluminum holds up and how much the weight savings effect the carryability of the knife.

3. Guardian Tactical Recon OTF -

I just sharpened one of these for a customer and was impressed. While I don't think there's any real debate about whether or not you can carry an OTF daily, I've never done it. Not for an extended period.

4. Hiroaki Ohta Friction Folder -

Can I EDC a friction folder? I'm going to cheat a little if I do this one and use a pocket slip with a clip, so that the knife will still ride essentially in the same spot a normal, modern folder would. It's got a lot going for it. Looks, d2 steel, affordability...

5. Southern Grind Copper Spider Monkey -

Another one that I'm just curious about. You see them around every now and then, but I can't say that I've ever seen one that's been used extensively. Plus... COPPER!

6. MKM Terzoula Clap -

It's a little Terzoula design from a new manufacturer with wood scales AND a pocket clip.(looking at you Fox Knives.) What's not to love? We'll see.

7. Kizer Begleither VG-10 -

I love VG-10. I'd like to see how Kizer's holds up to daily use and this is just a damned good looking knife. Love the price too.

8. Fox Knives Karambit Folder -

Can a sane person carry a karambit for edc use? Let's see.

9. Paragon Warlock -

It's a 4" DE Dagger that disappears into its own handle via a trick pivot opening system... and it's got hot rod flames on the blade! I'll be the envy of every boy on the block.

Feel free to list any other recommendations in the comments. These were all I could think of at the moment.

Long term review of that Warlock would either be a long joke or the longest honeymoon. I just want to hear about an adult wielding such a thing on the daily :p

I like the sheer insanity of that thing. It'll likely happen regardless of poll results. :D

I'm suprised to see the Clap in the lead. Probably the most "normal" knife on the list. That or the monkey.
