Knives for Mother's Day?

Every year I am stumped on Mother's Day. I've struck out with clothes, jewelery, flowers, books..........just about everything you can imagine.

It wasn't until I gave my mom a Fenix flashlight that I got a wild, crazy-happy call about how terrific it was, how useful, going to use it all the time. She couldn't stop raving about it.

That got me thinking that maybe the flashlight would be a 'gateway gift' for a knife, but I don't know if that is wishful thinking.

Anyone here planning to give a knife to his/her mom? Details?

My mom is a very active 74-yr old: cooking, gardening, planting, sewing, repairs. She is pragmatic to a fault. Any ideas?

something small most likely since it will sit in her purse/keychain. Look at the smaller SAK and kershaw chive. Maybe a scallion if you want something a little bit bigger. Rainbow finish available on the scallion should have come out hopefully. Leatherman squirt?

edit: Sharp eyes idea if she doesn't have good kitchen knives over my ideas.

Does she have good cooking knives? FORSCHNER / VICTORINOX CUTLERY Forschner Victorinox chef's knives are great for not much money and come with a lifetime guarantee. Take a look at Eagle Mountain Knife Company
If you want something in tool steel then Bark River and a number of other companies and custom makers have great carbon steel kitchen knives. (If you go for a custom you will have to find one that is ready for sale)
Or you can just get her a Bark River outdoor knife and have her try it in the kitchen. I have heard of a number of Bark River owners who have had their knives appropriated for kitchen duty once their spouses found out how well they worked. If you go this route I would probably think of a BRKT North Star or Fox River. Then she could have a great kitchen knife and you could show her other uses for her new tool.
Good luck

VICTORINOX makes knives and tools specifically for gardening. I found them while searching for something 'different' for my wife, who likes to garden. It may help you to know that she put them to immediate use, which has been constant for two years now! They hold up well (as you'd expect with the brand). Reasonably priced and worth a look, I think.

A small Case slip joint would make a great little purse knife. The limited edition peanut below has bubba gum pink scales with damascus blades. (definitely has the cuteness factor women seem to go for in a knife)

Thanks to everyone. Took a look at all of them and I went with the small SAK on the keychain. There was one with an LED flashlight. Made sense to me because she doesn't have any city lights, so when things get dark they are REALLY dark.
