When I was a kid, my Dad had several knives from his military career. Two that I remember were an orange switchblade and a fixed blade knife with a stacked leather handle. I broke the blade on the switchblade by trying to pry up a piece of mud (even though it was over 30 years ago, I remember it quite clearly.) The other knife was lost, probably by me carrying it around in the mountains.
Fast-forward to a month or so ago. I did some research and was able to positively identify the switchblade as an MC-1 paratrooper's knife. The other one looks very similar to the Ontario P3 Quartermaster knife. So, I got one of each to give Dad for his birthday next month. After receiving the P3, I'm pretty sure that it is the same knife, although the original probably wasn't made with 440A.
