Carol Tichbourne here, -
Our goal is to supply as many knives as we can, custom, factory, whatever we can get or make to our troops presently deployed.

We are working on getting knifemaker or knife enthusiast support in this project, if each of us donated one knife we could reach many of our soldiers - boost morale, let them know they are being supported and remembered. Cards, notes, they help too - there is a seperate address for that.

The knives are being shipped to Shirley in Ottawa(the address is in the other thread in the other section) who is in direct contact with the CO in Kandahar and together they are setting up a program to distribute these knives. (There is alot more information in the Community Section under Canadian Section - Knives for our Troops)

There is a small trickle starting to come in, we do need your support.
I know each and every one of you have your own lives to live, we're all fighting our own battles of survival, whatever they may be BUT, we have a group of men and women in a foreign land that are putting their lives on the line every minute they are away from their homes and families the least we can do is show them that they personally are supported and remembered, and that we pray they come home, not in a body bag but whole to rejoin their families.

Remember for years we have played a peace keeping role, now these people are at war and they have a rough road ahead of them. Please help us support them in whatever way we can. Join with us and be part of our "Knives for our Troops" project.

Absolutely! I'm courious, the military doesn't issue knives anymore? That should be the first thing they received in, well, after boot camp, with some good training. I remmber we had some sort of rubber knives for training, this was in the 70's at MCRD in San Diego.

Honestly I agree 1000%.
All of our wonderful tech and we cannot send our boys and girls into combat with a decent knife ? Seems to me that would be the simplest of items to provide , maybe I'm wrong :)

Valiant and noteworthy effort to those who are helping out in this project.

im not sure if i will be able to have something made that he can use and still have in time for his shipping out:mad:

rhrocker you know real marines come from the island PI you must ahve been one of those hollywood marine types :D semper fi

Oh yea, we had it real easy and good during our 13 weeks during 1970. The DI's all just loved us they said :o) I was a little older than most (21), and really felt sorry for some of the guys from the Eastern states that had never been away from home at all, and there were a lot. Those guys were really lost, but made good soldiers in the long run, very adaptable. I was hard headed and got in trouble now and then. None of it was fun, but it went by fast. I still have dreams about reinlisting in the MC and going back into basic!
I hear you guys had it bad also Lloyd, but surely not as bad as MCRD. <G>semper fi

nope i think all the real marines have it sorta like when you hear the marines hymn and the way it makes you feel
is there any way i could use you to get a knife to a marine not that i dont want to help out a troops other then marines its just the brother hood thing
butch

i already asked about that, being a Marine myself, but these knives are going to the Canadian military
