Hey Guys

Do any of you designate knives for special purposes?? Like a going out for dinner knife or going to the city knife...ect. Sorry if this has been asked before.

I have a nice Damascus steel folder that I only wear to formal events, I carry certain knives for hiking, and others for edc. I even have one small H1 spyderco that is my swim suit knife. It's either about how the knife looks or its intended function.

I have a CRKT Fulcrum and Buck Rush for formal events and Kershaw Hawk for work. Then I have my other hunting/camping knives which all have their own purpose.

1. BM 111 Folder for scuba
2. kamagong bali for steaks
3. a Santa Fe Stoneworks Damscus folder for special events
everything else is bound for daily carry

I have always done this. Back when it was possible to do, I had a couple of folders with 2 3/8" blades that I carried on commercial airline flights. Even today I have my knives for normal EDC, I have a few bigger ones that I might carry when I think I might need a bigger knife, and I have a few with bone scales that I bought to carry to church.

Of course those are folders. I have a variety of fixed blade knives for special purposes and I think there is more possibility for specialization with fixed blade knives than with EDC folding knives.

My Becker Bk2 is used only for camping purposes. None of my folders have a special "purpose". I do have some that are for display/collectible that I never fondle or use to cut anything with. Then I have some that I edc/cut with.

My SOG Twitch 2 is my EDC... and I do mean EVERY day. It is a knife I can use around the warehouse AND in polite company. This may change now that I've gotten my Buck 371, however.

The Skyline tends to be my 'hard user' most of the time. Unfortunately I've been having trouble with rust spots appearing on the blade, even after oiling it, so until I have that problem solved my Delica 4 will be filling that roll.

I had a small Tinker that was my dedicated beach (beach volleyball manager) knife last year. Unfortunately, I've started carrying my NEW small Tinker out there as well; now I have two messed up knives. Whoops.
My CS Bushman is my "cutting big food" knife. I bought an Ontario SP43 as my outdoors knife, though it may be headed back as I don't like the lower guard.

At least a medium sized, heavier blade for "at work" use, back pocket carry. I'm currently using a pre-2004 (USA made) Schrade 340T but I wanna find a good Barlow.

Smaller "watch pocket" knife for after work carry, currently a Schrade 180T (pre-2004 of course).
