Knives from a friend

A friend of the family stopped by yesterday. Her father and mother recently passed, so she was going through all of their things. When she got to her father's tool shed, she came across his two favorite knives. She originally was going to keep them, but decided they should go to a home where they'd be appreciated more. From what she was saying he took pride in his tools and didn't abuse them. I could definitely see that here with these two. Both were extremely sharp when they were given to me.

The first one she handed me was this Case 12031L w/ walnut scales.

When she handed me the second one I thought it was a Marbles' hunting knife. Unfortunately no, but it is still nice. It is definitely of German origin, probably imported by the masses during the 50's/60's. I really like the homemade sheath.

Your friends Father had good taste in cutlery. I have seen many examples of the hunting knife before and if I run across the maker I'll make a mental note and post it here.

Both very nice using knives!

I remember those German hunting knives, the name Edge pro or Edge brand or something like that comes to mind, but there were many makers of them. They were actually very good knives with carbon steel blades and nice stag. They took and held a good edge through a deer. During the 50's and early 60's they were number 2 to the little finn style style of knives among hunters. And of course the TL-29 pattern was a great working knife no matter who made it.

That TL-29 is a nice knife!

But that hunting knife is a real beautie! What a nice shape! I think, they not as popular here in Germany as they are / have been in the US. I´ve never seen any of them. Not on german fleabay or at any fleamarkets. (I would have bought it ;) )

Thank you for sharing these two knives.

Kind regards
Andi

Very nice gesture from your pal. Nice knives. I've always had this weird thing about I can't carry something knowingly of someone who has passed. Weird huh? Now I can keep it as sentimental value but carry or use it no way man!

Edit: Another thing that creeps me out is like at gunshows people will be selling old military stuff ect. I won't even touch that stuff. War is a horrible way to die and what if there spirit is still with whatever it might be. Ahhhhhhhh Sorry I'm weird!

Back to your regularly scheduled programming folks. :D

Very nice. My fnl just dropped off a similar german fixed blade for me to rehab. Though mine looks more like a german finn.
