Thought I'd share some of the knives the apprentices in my shop have been working on. These are some of the knives I'll be taking to Atlanta at the end of May (along with some of my own). They guys have been getting better and better and I am continually proud of their progress. The first two pics are from Jaime.

The next two are done by Ramon:

Two tactical hunters with a similar model hand sanded and sporting curly maple slabs with raised rivet heads.

The last is a monster chopper done in 5160, mild steel guard and curly maple handle.

i love the raw hammered finish. it makes them look killer and very unique. I really like the cord wrapped hunters. are all of your knives done to order?

Mike, Looks like they have a good teacher. Looking foward to Blade Show myself.

Thanks for the compliments! I'll share your words with the guys. These knives were done specifically for the Blade Show so they are not orders from an individual.

Those look great Mike. I look forward to seeing them in person. Tell your apprentices they are doing good work. That tactical hunter really appeals to me. You are doing a great job with them. See you at Blade.

Thanks Brion,
I'll tell the guys what you said. They will appreciate the kind words. I've always admired your work and so I look forward to meeting you in Atlanta.

Mike, I have a ton of respect for you and what you are doing. Keep up the great work man!

They are doing very good work! I'm partial to the raised clips, but I like all of 'em. Hope to see them at Atlanta before they jump off the table.

Thanks Lorien. You've always supported me and the guys with our endeavours in bladesmithing and we always appreciate the thoughts and kind words.

Great stuff, Mike. The lads are really coming along. Where are they selling their work these days?

We are mostly selling to people who visit our shop and by word of mouth. That's why this years Blade show is important as our first venture into promoting their (and my) work. I think I met you at Blade a couple years ago. Will you be there this year?

Those are really cool, I LOVE the first two.
Good teacher and good students.
How many years since Jaime and Ramon been making knives?

Hey Manuel,
THey guys started making knives about 5 years ago when Jason Knight came down and taught for a week. The next year Burt Foster came down and taught for another week. Ever since then we've been advancing little by little. The guys are getting better and hopefully they will get good enough to pass their JS test in 2014.
