Knives I don’t care for/overrated

Anything Medford. I can appreciate an overbuilt folder but if I need something that thick & bulky, I'd rather just use a fixed blade.
I prefer to go large, rather than wide. If I'm going to have a giant pocket fixed blade, I have Tri-Ad locks on my 3" GRIK, 5.5" Tanto Voyager, or 7.5" Espada XL, I think those are reasonably "overbuilt". The fixed blade solution is good, too.

I think the Bugout is a hugely over-rated knife. It is not terribly offensive, I would love it for free as a light-carry, but I wouldn't ever pay that kind of money for it, I feel like I could just snap it in my hands like that, linerless, feels very cheap. I would pay a little over a RAT for it. Actually, I have a very nice bone-while and black R2D2 that I reach for specifically when I need something like the Bugout! It is 0.6oz heavier, for those who REALLY are counting every tenth of an oz. The Opinel no. 8 is only 1.5oz! You won't be able to feel that, there is nothing lighter... but a slipjoint. Carry a 2+" Case Toothpick for less than an oz. That is a long blade, keep it sharp, and it will do whatever cutting people need to do while running in shorts, as one person put it to me why he bought a Bugout (not that you need to justify yourself to me, this is just MY opinion! No hate to BM fans). Oh, but that Opinel isn't as ergonomic? Its too round? A company called MAM makes basically a flatter, liner-lock Opinel, which ain't as fancy but does the use-case of light-duty cutter. Do you want a better steel? A PM2 is only 1.6oz heavier, or you could get a lightweight model in everything from SPY-27 to Cruwear to M4 to S45VN to S110V.

Then again, do not much like Benchmade for a lot of reasons, very reluctant to try, have an Omega spring break, then be asked to give to the gun drive to protect my community from me. The 940 is the only Benchmade that I really looked twice at.

Here's my Ontario Bugout, I gave my GF an M4 Spyderco Bugout:

Inevitably someone is going to ask if you have owned and used this knife. So? If so, why do you feel this way?
Should this be in Good, Bad, Ugly?
I think it's kind of a "fun" thread to give opinions. I do not know much but it seems like GBU is a place for more serious reviews that may actually reflect on a company. This is more of a "Yeaaahhhh, well I think THIS" type of thread, more lighthearted. Look at my comment, for instance, I talk about preferring long over fat knives when I have not tried a Medford or Hinderer yet. I wouldn't want their rep to go down because of me saying that.

But yes, to be interesting, he has gotta tell why. On the other forum I posted on, there was a rule, "No list threads". It was a music forum, so you could not make a thread like "What's the most overrated death metal band?" and just have people reply "Cannibal Corpse" "It's Morbid Angel", no, you needed to include reasons and discussion.

Why no likey Norseman, sir?

While I think this could be kind of an interesting thread to see others take on different knives, My bet is under 3 pages before someone gets offended and this goes sideways.

WHAT? What do you even THINK of our userbase that someone would just get offended like that!!! What is the MATTER with you?!?!

OK, buckle up.....

I don't like Chris Reeve Knives. I had 3 of them, and all were sold several years ago.

I got caught up in the hype, and I was convinced I HAD to have a Sebbie to fit in with the cool kids.

My first one arrived with what felt like sand in the pivot. Sent that one back and was returned not much better. Not giving up, I bought a second one. That thing had blade wobble side-to-side that no amount of pivot tightening would correct. My third one was the best of the lot, but I was already disenchanted by that point. Sold it as LNIB for a loss.

there are many I could list. But number one has to go to the Grimsmo Norseman
Totally respect that the aesthetics might not be for you. But as someone who appreciates smooth actions and "drop-shuttyness" there's just no touching the Norseman. I have multiple Shiros and Koenigs, and the Norseman puts them all to shame. But I definitely get those who find it ugly :) I was in that camp for a long time until suddenly I wasn't.
