Knives I Never Expected To Own

Prior to discoving BFC my knife buying was confined to the occasional visit to a knife store or because of word of mouth, a visit to the hardware store for a Leatherman. I picked up one or two at yard sales, then another few on eBay that were identical to ones I had lost long ago and longed for.

Although I have had a life-long interest in knives, nothing has primed my interest, respect, and curiousity like what I have found here. And this has translated into purchases. I would have never owned a khukuri, but now one is in the mail. I have a new Fallkniven F1 thanks to what I have learned here. I am close to either a Seb or a Dozier, depending on what I learn in the next few days.

I now know what D2 and VG-10 are, and thanks to Marion and Cliff, I have an understanding of testing and the difference between makes and models. (Keep up the good work guys!)

I have also learned more about sharpening than I ever knew, and this has translated into purchase of a Sharpmaker and an EZE-Lap benchstone.

A Wegner Jr. or a Benchmade AFCK is on my to-get list.

I long to handle a Pack Rat, a Busse #5, and a Newt.

As long as they keep makin' em and you guys keep talking about them, and posting your great pics, I'll keep buying and dreaming.

LONG LIVE BFC

I have to agree, BladeForums.com has allowed me to see what is out there that I might have never seen. Catalogs and stores used to be my only choices. Not many stores in my area either and not big selections. Mostly lower grade knives, too.

I never thought though that I would spend hundreds of dollars on a single knife purchase like I do now when I first started buying knives. I would have told myself that I was knuts when I first started! How times have changed! Gone from buying 15 dollar knives to hundreds of dollar knives.

I can relate to that!!!!!!! 2 months ago I had never heard of Boker, paragon, cumberland, cold steel,Microtech. Now I have some of all of these and wondering what is going to grab me next. An interst in knives had always been there but BF has opened my eyes to all kinds of beautiful and well made knives. I just keep learning more and more from the old pros here. It is a real educational experience. So thanks to all before me for your wisdom and sometimes a good chuckle.
