Knives in Baggage

I may be traveling to Alaska thru Canada, and want to carry a blade in my checked-baggage.

I am concerned Canadian Customs would go thru my baggage, spot an evil fixed-blade, seize it and deport me back to the US.

Does anyone know what is acceptable to bring onto the country in checked baggage, blade-lengths, and serrations?

I'm not talking my Busse Steelheart, maybe a 3 1/2 to 4 inch sheath model?

Also, what about folders..would a Sebenza pass thru them..or get me arrested..and again...its shipped inside checked baggage..and wouldn't even be carried there.

But Alaska would be a whole 'Nother Story!

There are no blade length laws in Canada so I would not be to concerned about having any problems. A Sebenza should also be no problem. Just make sure that the knives you bring are ones that are not illegal in Canada and you will have no problems. Avoid autos, balis, gravity knives and belt buckle knives and things should go OK.

I carry numerous fixed blades and folders when I travel (can't make up my mind what I might need) and have never had a problem. I've cleared Canadian Customs a half dozen times since September with no problem. So long as it is checked baggage you'll be fine.

Enjoy your trip.
