Knives in "Exit Wounds"?

I checked out this movie mostly out of curiosity than anything else. It stars Steven Seagal and a rapper called DMX. Before I go on, I think a good general, all-around description of this film is that it's done by the same director and had the same flavor as last year's Jet Li movie Romeo Must Die, including several of the same actors. I thought it was just a basic, standard action fare. I feel some parts were entertaining, but a lot of the movie, IMO, was pretty lame.

Now, about the knives. There was a bali-song early on wielded by a thug, but the knives of interest to me are one used by Seagal to cut rope to free some people, and a one-hander used by DMX to open a box.

In both instances, the knives are shown very quickly, esp. in Seagal's case. I couldn't tell if his was an auto or not, though I suspect it was a linerlock, because of the ease with which he closed it/put it away. The knife used by DMX was almost surely a linerlock, similar in design to some of the Fred Carter designs(?). Anybody else able to spot them? (don't blink).

I will be seeing the movie on Sunday. We supplied all the knives for the movie and I should be able to identify all of them if I don't blink

I thought the one used by Mr Segal was a custom Ken Onion that Ken made special for this movie-could be wrong...did you check the credits.......I know the next one has some of Kens knives in it and Mr Segal had Kens knife displayed very conspicuously in his front pocket at the Vegas Classic last month.

Tom,

Yep talked to Ken and he did make that knife for Steven and this movie. The knife is called "Exit Wound" even. Did not make it to the movie, still trying to get of Pneumonia I had all last week.

The knives I know of that where kept on the set were several of my Dragon Forge (Jaguar) butterflies and a MOD CQD Auto that I was told Steven liked a good bit and may have even kept for himself.

I will let you know more after I see the movie.

STIHL have you ever met Sensei Seagal?

So, Mike - is it true that Ken only made one for the film? I haven't (and probably won't) see it, but I'm curious what the knife looks like, and if I can get one (not likely, with that 6-year wait, but you never know).

the knife in question is a VERY LARGE Speed safe with flipper button on the back, made out of Mike Norris Damascus, Blade AND Bolsters, with nice pearl handles. Ken etched the bolsters selectively for a really far out look with a big polished portion in the middle....really a cool knife...think the price to Mr Segal was $2600. And Ken does NOT have a 6 year waiting list, I keep reading this: He DOES NOT take orders, period.

Tom -

So you mean he's "retired" like Emerson? Does he have such a large backlog that he's stopped making new customs to fill old orders? Is he ever gonna START taking orders again?

Thanks!

Chris

(I guess that explains why one of his knives went for $1,100 at the Arizona Custom Knives auction...)

This is the knife that Tom is talking about. It's still kind of unfinished in this shot.

we need to put this back up to the top so everyone can see that pic, although there is NO way you can see the detail in the etching and the damascus unless you look at it in person......an awesome knife!!!! Its REAL BIG too!

Yes my knife was in the movie ,but barely he (Seagal) used it to cut the tape on the hostages wrists (if you blink you'l miss it )
Most of the knife scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. Bummer !

I stopped taking orders so I could catch up on all of the existing orders. I may entertain some orders in the near future.
I just don't want to get so overwhelmed that I start pissing people off .
As far as Seagal bieng big headed. How many celebrities do you know that would spend thousands chartering a jet just to fly to Las Vegas and support me at the Vegas classic for a few hours only to jump back on the plane and head home. He's quiet and a bit stoic but once your his friend he will do anything for you. Warner brothers edited the movie, Seagal had no control on what got edited out.

That's pretty cool. I find myself wanting to like someone who has dedicated himself so successfully to the M.A.'s. It's nice to hear these good things about Mr. Seagal from Mike and Ken.
And Ken, it's even better to hear that you're not retiring for good! (phew!)
