At my kids school each year the 3rd grade has an Inuit day, where the kids do activities on differant aspects of Inuit life.I help out each time one of mine is in 3rd grade.Well one thing they do is scrimshaw on a bar of soap,I bring in copies of Blade and Knives ill. that has scrimshaw in them for the kids to study. This has worked out great even had some young female teachers who really enjoyed the beauty of these knives.
Another way I try to show these kids the value of knives is during fire prevention week. You see I go in and give them a talk on fire safety at the end I show them some eqipment and tools. Then I show them a tool I use a lot that I keep in my pocket....an SAK I tell the all the things I can do with it.Now to be honest I often carry a BM710 on the job, but I got to keep it low profile so nobody objects.
Theres probably ways you can do like things, talk to a scout troup ect.I try to use the soft sell often thats the only way that works.
