I hope to visit Peru, Bolivia and Chile next year. I will be staying in towns not the jungle. Does anybody have recent knowledge of knife laws in these countries? Blade length or lock type restrictions? Laws re pepper spray? I plan to write to their embassies but that can be time consuming.

Fraser River,

I live in South America.

I'm alittle short of time but I can provide a run down later tonight or tomorrow. In general I have not had any trouble in the countries you mentioned. Another good person to check would be Jeff Randall. He operates a survival school in Peru. Bolivia, no problems.

Frase ,I just got back from Peru 4 months ago.I carried a large sheath knife on my side while down there even in the towns, however I would not advise this until you were out of town due to not attract attention.Knives are generally no problem at all it just depends on what you are doing and where your doing it.No one should say anything to you not even at the airports, its generally just american security that flips out over knives.Carry your blade concealed in town and out in the open on the outskirts, and oh yeah dont wear any camo at all unless you are with the military.
