Have you guys/gals ever notice someone carrying something nice (higher end: full custom, sebenza, strider, higher end spyderco or benchmade, zt etc)? Or have someone comment on yours? Someone noticed my sebenza the other day. He was a knife nut as well. I guess unless your using it its hard to tell, but many knife guys I feel could tell by the pocket clip or the butt of the knife that protrudes a bit out of you pocket....

I have seen lots of pocket clips or butt ends that are noticeable, but most are usually Chinese gas station knives. I did see a guy that lives a few houses down showing off a PM2 clip, so I mentioned it to him. He said he rotates it with a bunch of other knives from benchmade and ZT. An hour later my old lady yelled at me that I was missing supper because we were still standing on the street talking knives.

No one's ever approached me but my wife tells me quite often about how someone noticed one of hers. The story always ends the same- "nice knife ya got there, you like _______'s?"(usually one of her spyderco/kershaw/BM's) and then quickly ends when she tells them she's married and her husband got it for her, no one wants to risk trying to flirt with some crazy knife nut's wife.

I never had but that's more a matter of me not caring what other people carry and not using a pocket clip personally.

I notice "big" knives in the woods in a sheath. I seldom notice a pocket clip or any kind of easily concealable knife in the outdoors. It is a distance thing as I am generally not that close to them to take much notice.

If it is a young person in the woods, I might ask about a belt or sheath knife. I figure they are probably proud of it. But there generally not enough time for such things.

I've seen a few Microtechs, never anything nicer than that. I see a lot of grips/mini grips and eduras/delicas though. Quite frequently I see guys wanting to show off their "awesome high end knives" and then they pull out a cheap SOG :p

A few weeks ago I was in church on Sunday morning and noticed that the unassuming looking older guy seated in the pew in front of me had a Benchmade Infidel clipped in his pocket.

Lots of pocket clips out here, but I'm about the only person wearing a sheath knife around town. Surprisingly only a few people have commented on it. Most has been positive, only one has been negative, and her point of view nearly got her fired as a result.

I can tell the pattern of the knife, the type of scales and the brand just by how it prints in the pocket of a pair of pants, I'm that good... ;) JK

Most people don't approach me out in public, I've got that psycho biker look goin on... :)

I have mainly seen cheap knives and gerbers. Every once in a while someone will have a Kershaw or a Benchmade. I have never seen any high-end knives being carried, nor have any of my friends produced anything remarkable when I have asked to see their knives.

I used to have a knife nut coworker. He usually had something decent on him and is the only person I've known in person that had and carried a custom folder. He mostly carried Spydercos and assorted flippers. Another coworker there carried a Chive or a Boker, and I can't recall what the lead field service guy carried (I seem to recall it was decent, but he was always heavy laden with numerous multitools and such, so picking out the knife among the 6-8 things he usually had on him wasn't easy).

At my current employer, my manager carries a Spyderco but everyone else carries no better than a cheap Gerber. Trying to convert one of the guys to at least a Kershaw...

My manager did notice my BM, though.

Lotta people have benchmade, but I dont consider them anywhere near high end or quality...

Only person I've ever known to carry anything even remotely decent was a friend that traded a cop for an old Benchmade auto. He still carries it and that thing is just about completely worn out. I believe it was in ATS-34.

Saw another student with a BM Osborne around my school. Knife felt stiff and not broken in. After he showed me the knife, he produced some pepper spray and various other SD implements from his pockets. Told him to just stick with the pepper spray and carry a smaller knife since the school has regulations against knives with 2.5" and longer blades. You can probably get away with something like a Mini-Grip or a Delica here, assuming that people here even know that knives are allowed on campus, but probably not an Osborne.

That's about it.

Took a sebenza into the wild myself. The family and i went on a little camping trip and i decided to see what she was made of... Funny story, i also took a spill in the river with the 21 pocketed
