^^^ This is a nice list. It's missing some of the exclusives, but does show a few good options for the steels. Interesting how Spyderco is almost cornering the market on budget ZDP-189 knives. I like the Spyderco ZDP, it gets really sharp.
Vg-10....SOG Vulcan! This knife gets overlooked repeatedly, but is a very nice looking and operating blade. The arc lock (similar to axis lock) is super smooth and lockup is phenomenal. It's worth checking out for sure. Especially when you can find them under a c-note!
Depending on the using environment。
If the knife primary purpose are:
1. small knife like edc total long below 8.5 inch
2. the knife primary purpose for cuting
I suggest you using M390。
Agreed. The FFG VG10 3.75 inch lockback FRN knives come in under $70, very sharp, and tight. They will last a very long time if you don't pry, use as screwdriver, get grit in lockback. ( it naturally polishes up over time and gets smoother. If you use a wet lube that traps grit or sand it's much worse than no oil at all. No, you don't need to take it apart for cleaning either. That is the beginning of many sad stories)
I have several I bought as new generations were released. My oldest is a 1st generation FRN from 92 that is smooth as silk, tight and strong just the way it should be. It should be around for several generations of ancestors if they just take not to do anything stupid. It's like the Glock of knives. Or Glock is the Spyderco Endura of pistols.
VG10--The Al Mar SERE 2000 plus any of the Spyderco offerings that rock your soul.
S30V--Spyderco PM2 and Sage 1. Buck Vantage Pro.
ZDP189--The only knife I own right now is a Dragonfly 2 so nothing to recommend otherwise.
M390--I got nuthin.
