From what I heard, the name is not copyrighted… and even if it was… ripoff of an actual gun are made all over the world all the same.

AK brand as a synonym of sheer firepower (and hostile too, since it's russian) sneaked in knife industry too:

ooh, they forgot Busse's AK-47!
I've found three - maybe there's more?

:)

I remember that Cold Steel has one, with a thumb-disk acting as a Wave, that people were getting uppity about.

I guess next Busse will be MIG-31, SU-29, T-92 and so on...

Mighty Irresistable Goose 31 cm long.
Super Unifier 29 cm long.
Trooper 92 cm long.

I think Busse just run out of names - I remember contest they run for HR. It looks like they found good solution this problem for a while.

Thanks, Vassili.

sounds like a good knife :P :D ........ ha ha ,,
in russia i dont know of a ak47 knife ......... yet , maybe we should do one.

I have this one , made under the Boker Magnum brand. But it's named after the AK-74.
It has the words "Automat Kalashnikov 74" on the blade and again in Russian on the pivot screw ( this pic from the web doesn't show the decorated pivot , but my knife has the decorated pivot screw).
The box is shaped like the AK's magazine...

You can have a bayonet on it :)

Why the #47 then?

47 cm length blade:thumbup:

So the designation and number are all original and just happen to match the Kalishnikov rifle number.:D

Boker has a deal with Mikhail Kalashnikov himself - no questions about using his name in this case.

Tanks, Vassili.

Yeah. I figured that might be the case, it's one of my favorites and the box is cool too....

I figure that since the AK 47 is such a widespread and popular weapon in todays society that knife makers wanted to cash in on the name.

There are also some Chinese made knives, that have an appearance similar to the old time Mauser bayonets that are stamped AK-47 and CCCP (for USSR).

It just unfortunate to see Busse amiong them - is it sign of degradation?

Does they have anything else to cash in?

Well, latest Busse knives was not very impressive, and you may see that a lot of "American Kensei - 47 cm long" still awailable in Busse Company Store for several monthes now. Something going on with Busse lately and this AK-47 things is just reflection of this.

I guess the idea to came up with new model every two monthes or something does not really work - it is hard to came with great design so often (like old Busse knives), I think it is hard to came up even with good design every two momthes, so they have to came up with something... They need little help - like name it AK-47 or something.

Thanks, Vassili.
