Some of you may remember me, most of you not. I have quit all my living style of a big city in Turkey and moved in a village just to make knives but things went bad.. I intend to marry and rent a house but my income is too low as a bladesmith and I have to quit bladesmithing, at least It will be a hoby from now on. I return to I.T. business as a programmer, meaning hours of hard work in front of a monitor :barf: ...

Yesterday I visited my shops just to say goodbye, it was sad for me... But it is an addiction and I will never quit to visit this site and enjoy your beautiful knives.. I just want to thank you all. I will continue to make knives when I can (may be never) and share them with you, they will be better than those I made as a bladesmith I guess as these will be made just to have fun, no time limit, no economic prospects...

Thanks for your support you gave un-selfishly to me....

Galadduin,
Sorry to hear this but I believe all things happen for a reason.Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!
Hopefully things will work out for you and you can get back to what you love doing. :D

Never say Never
Sometimes things work out in weird ways.
Stay sharp, keep um straight.
God Bless, and good luck.

I am a technical development project manager, and spend most of my time behind a computer screen looking at what most would consider gibberish....a stark contrast to the tactile world of knifemaking. No worries, you will be back at it. Some great stuff I've seen comes from part-time makers, though I am no expert. Sometimes the forced length of time part time makers must spend with each knife over a longer period of days and weeks allows them to see things in different lights from different mindsets that makers who work full time may not have the time to notice...much like poets. Some poets bang out a poem and submit it, and every one is amazing, while others carry them with them for a long period of time, turning them over and over in their hands....nothing wrong with becoming that until you find the time to jump back into things

Sorry to hear your not going to make knives anymore.....Congratulations on your marriage, wish you all the best....Keep in touch from time to time.:( maybe you can make a few knives in whatever spare time you can find.

good luck you'll need more of it with the new woman if you're not paying close atention :D
your knife making will always be there to do when you want...

Thanks all for your support, my future seems brighter as I read your replies.

BTW Dan you're right at the women issue, I will need more luck at marriage than at bladesmithing as it is related to female nature:D . Bladesmithin' is there, my shops wait for me to return, but women are unpredictable for sure ;) ...

I remember you. congratulations on your upcoming marriage. maybe you can't make a living at knifemaking but you should be able to keep making knives. keep them coming and best of luck with your new wife...

Congradulations on your marriage! I look at the knifemaking thing this way. If I did it full time, there would be a lot of pressure and that would remove some of the joy. Currently, I use my knifemaking to forget about the pressure and create joy. Good therapy! Look at it this way, this way you get to make kives AND make money:D
Good luck and keep smiling whatever you do.
Ed
