Does anyone here have experience with the knives of alaska fillet knives or any other of pieces of their product line in 440c?

I don't have any of their knives in 440C but have a Bush Camp knife in D2. IMO this company offers a good product at a good value. They seem to zero in on designs that are practical in the field.

i bought them for my dad who fishes on a regular basis and is knife retarted...He really really likes them and can actually sharpen and maintain them without my help on his very own sharpmaker. he said he has gotten alot of compliments from other old fisher types :P...i got him the set of 3 with the sheath...maybe it was 2? i dont remember.

I've actually never owned one but a couple friends of mine have one and they seem to be very practical designs and usually great value for the money. They generally use very good steel for the application and the designs are time tested in the field. They also come with very nice thick leather sheaths. I give them a big thumbs up!

I just recently sharpened a fixed blade knife for a fellow worker from "Knives Of Alaska" and let me tell you that was the most difficult blade to reprofile and sharpen that I had encountered in quite some time. Their heat treatment I truly believe is right up there with custom knives.

I have used a couple of their fillet knives in the past and I have nothing but good to say about them.

I think they are a good production knife company overall. With my limited exposure to them I still give them a definite "thumbs up".

I have their Steelheader filet knife and recommend them highly. Great knives. For smaller trout, I use their D2 Cub Bear, another fantastic little knife,

If possible examine the knife before you buy it. I bought a KOA large and small fillet knife set last year, and the small knife was butter-knife dull. I doubt that it had any kind of seperate sharpening step at all during manufacture. The larger knife was shaving sharp, so this may be just an isolated case of QC breakdown. I hope so, because after considerable time on the sharpmaker it did a decent job.
