Yeah, that sounds interesting.

However, the designs look very functional to me with more emphasis on traditional qualities than hip trends in cutlery design.
Their cleavers and skinners are unique designs that won an award in '94. The hatchet is new to me but reflects traditional concepts. Materials used look good quality too.
Specs are here: http://www.knivesofalaska.com/pro_Spec.htm

All in all, I think they are upcoming contenders in the outdoor field.

I too like the looks of their product and was going to order one of their more expensive knife sets at about 250.00 until I read a post about the poor quality of the finished product. I wish that I could actually see the product other than a web photo. This is not meant to knock Knives of Alaska but to relay an opinion on what I have read. I hope that this is not true and they are fine knives. I know that their web site is new and different.

I like the looks of that hatchet.

I have handled these knives though have not used them. They seem to be of good quality with straight grind lines. Santoprene is basically a rubber type handle that has good grip retention. Evidently they were designed by an Alaskan bush pilot and somehow ended up being made in Texas. My one concern is they are made from D-2 steel I believe ,which has minimal rust resistance. They are also not coated so rust in a wet enviroment will be something to watch for.Of course proper care will resolve that. Also a minor note the sheaths are a little light in wt leather for me. Overall a good looking product I would be interested in buying except for the price. Akraven in snowless Alaska
