Between the KOA and the K-Bar Becker series knives which one do you think is made out of a better steel. I'm a full blow Big Game hunter and have already ordered the BK9 and the BK11 and in the process of building a combo Kydex sheath for the pair. Now I'm wondering if I should of bought the KOA Bush Camp knife and the small Caper and built a combo sheath for them. What do you think?

If you're looking for EXTREME edge holding, the KOA Bush Camp is D2, so it'll hold an edge longer than the 1095CV that is used in the Beckers. On the reverse, if you do need to touch up in the field, the Beckers will be much easier to do in the field.

The BK9 is large so you have a great chopper there, and the BK11 will do any field dressing that needs to be done. I think that they are a better value than the KOA are. I love Kabars products, so I say you're good to go.

Sure - you made fine choices. I'm a fairly rabid deer hunter and my game processing blade of choice is my trusty Becker BK11. For lopping limbs, making blinds, dinking around when I'm bored and should be paying more attention, my BK9 rocks. Where I hunt, there is lots of scrubby brush - the BK9 is good for snap cutting through that when needed (though pruners are quieter). We also tend to get some roughish winters and the requisite dead trees and fallen limbs. My BK9 makes short work of these when I feel civic-minded and want to help clear trails.

You did well - think you'll be very happy with your purchases.

I have a BK7 and I feel it is too large for deer but for bear or moose it might be a good choice never tried it though. It is a big honkin blade and to me seems better suited to chopping wood and self defense jmho

My BK9 / BK11 Combo is going to replace a small gerber axe wich has a small knife in the handle and small gerber saw I always had in my pack. They were way to heavy. I figure less weight with the Becker combo. I have a Kershaw Zipper gutting tool for gutting and the BK11 will be for skinning and the BK9 will be my quartering knife. I alway pack my Game out dose not matter if I'm here in my home state of Iowa deer huning or out west Elk hunting. My wild game go's from the woods to the cooler A.S.A.P.

Well there ya go You folks out west have much bigger game than I do here on the east coast so the BK9 makes more sense for you

knives of alaska bush camp combo from mice to moose to heavy camp chores it will do it all

I have a KOA magnum Wolverine hunter in D2. I can get it scary sharp.I am a serious big game hunter and there is nothing this knife can not do!! I highly recommend it.The Bush Camp knife is made of a different steel and I have no experience with it.All my other hunting knives are customs or a few Bucks that I have had some for 30 years.

Have the Bushcamp and the Wolf like them both better than any Bucks I have had and they should hold a edge better than the Becker.

Got the 7 and 11 - not an animal I can't handle, although I no longer hunt as much as I once did.

I have the magnum boar hunter in D2. Holds an edge a long time. Decently made knife, certainly for what it was intended. I would like a little more stoutness around the handle design, but the steel is excellent. I'm turning into a big D2 fan for my hunting/field knives.
